A disgraceful stamp on young Scottish defender John Kennedy has probably put him out for the rest of the season

Mutu was booked as well for tackling with studs showing. What the hell is going on with these Romanians?

Latest scores (all times BST):
Hungary 1-2 Wales (1915)
Rep of Ireland 1-0 Czech Republic (1930)
Sweden 1-0 England (1945)
Scotland 0-1 Romania (2000)

Result: Estonia 0-1 Northern Ireland

What an absolutely abysmal game.
Positives: Woodgate & Terry, Rooney, Defoe, Gerrard, Hargreaves.
Defoe must go to Euro 2004.

£5 M a year, and you play Heskey upfront and Smith on the right?
:cuckoo:

Excellent result for Ireland

The Czech Republics 20 match unbeaten run comes to an end :)

Yeah there was, i can think of a few times.
One was when Thompson was free on the left and he took in inside and shot. Fair enough to do it soemtimes when nothing is on but not when a team mate is free and in a better posistion

As always in friendlies. Lets hope we can get our act together for Euro 2004.

Defoe! :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

Fantastic - but then I would say that.

I thought we were rather good in the first half - nice stuff, esp. without some of our first team. Shame no real end product though.

Thompson didn't get much of the ball but he's not done himself much cop IMO. Hargreaves was on fire for most of it. Nice.

It always falls apart once we start bringing all the subs on, but I thought it was a bit promising tonight to see some of the depth we have in certain areas. Massive plus to see Defoe so up for it - a player with a bit of passion. Whoa!

Feel sorry for Vassell, his first start since Japan 2002 and his own Villa mate injuries him. Whats even more annoying is he would have been away if Mellberg hadnt brough him down!

And my god, Butt was absolutly terrible tonight.

No Wright-Phillips either.

I must admit I'd kinda forgotten about SWP till I saw him walk off at full time.

Seems one of the obvious ones to give a go.

A fine performance from Wales with a weak team, some dodgy tackling for a supposed friendly though. :suspect:

He was doubtful with an injury, I daresay they thought it'd be nice for him to sit on the bench anyway.

Great result and a hardworking performance from a makeshift side but you're right about the tackling  Both sides sure got stuck in and there was a bit of aggro after the final whistle.

Not a great game to watch especially with all the free kicks. What was it, something like 52 fouls conceded during the game?

Agreed, he seemed to hold off defenders well too. He played a great ball in front of rooney for that chance that hit the post. A bit too ball gready though, seems like he was trying to impress with a goal. That Thompson chance seemed like he almost scored so it wasn't a complete bad decision

Looked like a pass to me. Or a pass come shot
