:help: I have a Harman/Kardon DVD2550S (same as the DVD25) every time I try to play a dvd it gives me a "disk error" message on the player this happends with every disk. It will play CD's fine though. Sometimes, if I give it a little knock or turn it on and off a few times, it will play a DVD. It makes a werring and clicking noise before presenting me with the disk error message. Does anyone know what it could be? or even give me an ideda of how much it will cost to fix
:(

Sounds like a duff loader - is it still under warranty ?

How are normal audio CDs in it ? Chances are they'll play fine, which suggests a faulty laser unit for DVD playback.

CD's are just fine in it. Unfortunately the warranty has run out.

I wonder if the laser unit is replaceable? I know it's a sanyo unit, does anyone know anywhere I might get replacement parts?

When you say the warranty has just run out, that concerns me - DVD players should last more than a year.

Take it back to the retailer (not the manufacturer) and cite the Sales of Goods Act , particularly re: defective goods. They are legally obliged to pay for repairs or make a replacement to at least some of the value of the HK.

Don't let them fob you off :)
