I am currently looking for a cheap new dvd player .
I currently have a reoc but it is constantly sticking so am looking for a new model.

Ideally it must be multi region, play most formats including vcd, mp3 etc and also support my 5.1 home cinema system.

Can anyone direct me to a decent model as I have been looking around the www but have become baffled by whats avaialable so would welcome some recommendations.

I am not looking to spend more than abou £70-£80 quid.

cheers

This sounds just the job. Can you confirm that it also has the necessary outputs for 5.1 surround sound ?

Cheers

The Toshiba 330 doesn't have a particularly robust dvd drive, it has been known to have sticking problems, picture freeze, frame skip problems. It doesn't read copied media as well as many other drives and has known audio sync problems with vcd/svcd. I would have thought there was more suitable players out there. It does have an excellent picture and optical/coaxial outputs but I wonder if it really is the best player for stevemartin.

The Toshiba only comes out of a cheap chinese factory like the very cheap models and is rebranded/restyled for Toshiba.

If you mean an onboard decoder .. then no. But it does have both coax and optical outputs for a digital signal for a suitable AV amp.

See here for connectors etc. http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/50-toshiba-sd-330e-multi-region-dvd-player.html

Some of the cheaper 'supermarket' type players have onboard decoding plus the relative 6 separate outputs but IMO would not be up to the performance of the Toshiba. BTW I have had no problems with mine whatsoever.
