It's still cut like the video
The R1 version is uncut

The TV version shown the other night had the Xenia(?) headbutt. But I think they write their own censorship rules. :p

Whilst on the subject of Headbutts.... There's quite a monster headbutt in Shrek. Employed by the green ogre himself during the final battle with the little guy's guards. Will this be edited out of the R2 version???

Nope
The reason being because (and I ain't seen the film so I don't know if this is true, it's what I read) you see the consequences of his actions, i.e. it causes him pain
Therefore kids aren't likely to try it
Is this right?

Having seen Shrek at the cinema, there were a couple of headbutts. I don't remember the headbutts being shown to be painful to Shrek, who doled them out.

I remember reading a reply from someone who e-mailed the BBFC about this, and their reply was along the lines that the scenes were so fantastical (i.e. a 'cartoon' ogre etc.) that there was minimal chance that kids would emulate the headbutt. So it wasn't cut.

The BBFC's obsession with editing-out headbutts is annoying to say the least as well as often being inconsistent. Goldeneye has them removed for the video and DVD versions yet Licence to Kill and The Living Daylights clearly have 'similar' headbutts still in them. In the latter two cases the headbutts are arguably more noticeable than some of the cut GoldenEye ones.

Also the farcical cutting of The Mummy Returns headbutt from a fight scene despite The Rock being allowed to dish out a couple in the battle at the beggining. The funny thing is that one of the main promotional clips sent out to entertaiment shows to showcase the film, seen in a few pre-watershed family-viewing-programmes, contained the uncut version of the same fight. So a lot of little kids will have seen it anyway (and are probably going 'round in a headbutting frenzy as I type ;) ).

Also this stupid stopping the release of uncut versions of a video/DVD when a cut version with a lower cert is available policy is annoying as well (although The Mummy escaped this rule). I was quite looking forward to getting the 4-disc 'Ultimate Mummy collection' box set (cert '15' - because of the original Mummy) which only seems to be available in R2, but the stupid rule mentioned above means that the version in the box has to be the '12' cut version of the Mummy Returns despite its overall 15 cert.

Yet the BBFC seem perfectly happy allow the releasing of DVDs with higher ratings than the film itself when the extras get a higher rating e.g. Patch Adams, Big Momma's House, Bedazzled, maiking their 'forbidden fruit' arguement totally stupid.

Oooh it makes me mad. I suddenly have the urge to go headbutt or ear-clap someone :D
