hello all - I hope someone out there can help me with this one..last night I decided to stick new batteries in my remote control for the Sony 930 (don't ask me why) after testing it by pressing a few buttons, volume, functions etc..I noticed that the MD/DAT light blinked orange every time I pressed a button I didn't pay it too much concern at the time..just thought it was one of those things....now my amp switches on slowly and no sound comes from it at all - every buuton push & toggle tweak is interspersed with the blinking orange light of the MD/DAT light!
Unplugging & leaving it to chill out (as per the suggestions of Mr Sony dealer) did nowt..any ideas please?
what a bloomin nightmare (the machine is about 16 months old - no extended warranty!)

cheers

Could be a stuck remote button, these have been known to wreak havoc. Take the batteries out of the remote and see if the problem disappears. Also do the same for any other remotes in the area as a stuck button on one of them could be interfering with the IR signal and causing the amp to get confused.

EDIT - Or if you don't want to remove the batteries again :) put the remotes out of range (In another room) and see if that makes a difference.

this may help...

i had a problem last week with my tv and ntl digibox, the tv would switch itself off and on randonmly and i couldn't control the digibox with the remote!!!! i thought i was going mad.....

it then dawned on me that my laptop (sitting directly in front of them) was on...somehow, the IR port was confusing the tv and digibox. how odd!

moved the laptop and no further probs ;)
