Well just a statement from me, had to share this with you guys.

As you all remember the moaning about the player-generated subtitles in Terminator 1 should take a look at the opening credits and text at the SW:TPM dvd .. other than the english one :)

Yes even though I don't like that LucasFilm has translated the whole scroll of text to Swedish (looses the feel) it's very nicely done and look exactly as it did when TPM were released at the cinemas.

So in the deparment neat and nice things you can do with the DVD this is one.

All you need to do is to select a subtitle other than english and you will be amazed ;)
This shows that you can do goodlooking things with player-generated text.

its not player generated.
It is a branching feature (there's also a french scroll - at least there is on the R1 version)

unless it is the R2 version you are on about - in which case, I have no copy to check.

my region 1 disc doesn't seem to have anything apart from english subs and closed captions
there is an option for spanish but nothing appears
i've not tried playing the spanish audio track from the beginning to see if the scrolling text changes though

yours must be a canadian release if it has a french version too

LucasFilm has translated the whole scroll of text to Swedish

Well, I'm gonna guess at R3.

I noticed on the R1 disc that the subtitles (for Watto and Sebulba etc.) fade in and out, and yet still appear to be player generated...

...ahh... the 'player' doesn't 'generate' anything, least of all subtitles --- it 'reads' whatever 'bit streams' are on the disc, be they various soundtracks (original language, dubs into foreign languages, commentary tracks, music-only tracks) or subtitles in various languages, and so on...

I'll stand a bit corrected.

I'd found this bit late wedensday night and didn't checked the angles-feature because the indicator were off ..

Well I've got the R4 version :) and it's the same as the scandinavian but for like £4 less.

But what LucasFilm has done is a combination of branching and subtitles so the scrollbit is subtitle specific. Does that make sense?

Well it's now just very nicely and good done but as cool as I'll though ..

/me check good next time .. key?

:)
