RUN RUN! RUN!!!
What's the deal with this? Better/worse than the elite version? 4:3 or w/s?
At £26+ I think I will pass though.

The packaging is a replica of the Book of the Dead from the film.
Any idea what is going to be on the disc? Is it going to be a full THX version? So many questions..... still ordered it:D

My order is in :D
Ive lost track of the number of issues of the three evil dead films. Will buy the three one day, after advice from you fanboys though!
Got my order in just in case, though I expect I'll change that to a retailer who can guarantee getting a copy or two. Least amazon dont charge immediately and its easy to cancel orders.

Don't forget that AB are releasing all 3 films in a box-set around the same time as the ED:book of the dead edition. The boxset is apparantly going to feature an extra disc for even more extras! The words "milking" & "cash cow" spring to mind.

lol, exactly. A couple of ppl here seem very excited over this but why?? Convince me to run out and buy it (without the running) :)
It's the Evil Dead!!!! Need you another reason?
Or at least I think that's it, of and oh course the book thing wil look nice next to the 15 other versions of the film on your shelf :D :D
Anyone know the specs for this?

No concrete details on the extras yet, but there's a good chance that the short film "Within the Woods" may be included on this disc, & this short is probably the Holy Grail to obsessive ED fans.

look nice? have you seen the book in the film? it'll look like a big cowpat on your shelf :p

That would indeed be interesting to see. Though I'd imagine a non-book version will be released with the same content? Perhaps in the box set?

Its in widescreen with DD and DTS - looks like the UK version was/is possibly what they are to use as the transfer master. Prolly wrong that said, coz doesn't it mean that lots of things need to be altered if it was??
I've right confused myself now :(
I think I'll wait for the paperback to come out. ;)

I think that image looks pretty ugly, especially if it's just plastic.
Now if it's not that flat, as it shouldn't fit nicely onto your shelf, has bumps for eyes etc, and has a leather feeling, or IS leather, then that's what we're talkin' about, but not that ugly piece of crap.

AB US release should be the same as the UK release, but will also include a few clips from the documentary that was on the Elite dvd (they couldn't include the full documentary due to legal issues)

It's a cynical marketing ploy, but it's a good investment if the set is a limited edition. You can bet your bottom dollar that this will sell out and fetch some reasonable prices on e-bay etc.
the german ltd release is available still for a whopping £68 so this is cheap in comparison

Jesus Christ!!! How many times are these 3 films gonna be released????
I haven't bought any of the DVD's yet as everytime I am about to make a purchase another "bigger and better" release comes along!
Makes George Lucus look positively restrained!!!!
Yeah, ironic isn't it that they can't get a studio to commit to a further sequal as the accepted wisdom is "there isn't enough interest in the series" :)
Anyhow, I've ordered mine. I understand Bruce Campbell himself has confirmed the new AB release will include Within/Woods and Bruce's own film on Deadites 'Fanalysis'.
It is possible the WW film will have altered music though (rights issues and all that)... not sure where I read this.
I would also hope that like AB releases of the other ED films, an option will be available to see the film Full Screen. I refuse to accept the recently reframed transfer is OAR. - I cannot see how certain shots could be framed effeciently in widescreen.
