View Full Version : Who wants a digital/analogue SPL meter
Who wants a digital/analogue SPL meter
I've just had email Radio Shack for (Tandy) analogue SPL meter. They are selling it for is £25 for analogue version and £40 for didigtal. Carriage is £6 per parcel, not per item.
Well, anyone of you wants one please email me, as the more I order, we'll all save more on shipping
Email me if anyone is interested. I think I need to set a deadline this thread, let's make it 15/11/01.
BTW, is there any difference between analogue and digital version?
:D
Obviously I am very disappointed in very few people interested in buying an SPL meter. I was kind of hoping to bulk buy. Here is the reply form rusk if I bulk buy :
The analogue is 24.99 the digital is 39.99
> > pounds.For a quanity of 10 or
> > more the price would be 21.99 and 35.99
> > respectively
Well I guess we have to wait a litltle bit longer then, Looks like I have to extend the deadline.
WELL ANYONE INTERESTED?????
Yes, if you can supply more details or even a link.
There is no link that I know of, I got a email address from a friend of mine

They have taken over from Tandy as the distributors of RadioShack stuff in the UK. Apparently, RadioShack stores are gonna be popping up over the country as franchises.
I did a co-buy on these analogue meters a few months back, great piece of kit.
Thanks for the website, but the website only has their details on it, can't buy online though.
Guys, I think the digital version is way too expensive, let's bulk buy analogue version
Jester, are u intersted in buying the analogue version then. So including you and me is 4 person only
Anyone else that missed Bapa offer the last time, this is your last chance. We can save £5 by bulk buying !! and it is an essential item for home cinema setup

You already have - lightweight, sensitive, fully portable and multi-functional (they can be used for all sorts of auditory things) - they cost nothing, should last a lifetime and are conveniently fitted to the side of your head. :D:D
Yup [smarta$$], but I don't expect to have great clumps of wax falling out on the analog sound meter at inopputune moments of my life.;)
Boink!:p
Got a few more names from avforum, I think I thave enough names now. Actually phoned this morning and already ordered 10 units. Wait for my good news this week.

Not guilty I'm afraid!
I was feeling a bit sarcastic when I wrote my message - but from it's tone you can probably appreciate that I don't think I need a SPL meter.
Would be interested in people's opinions though - ie does your system sound any better after being setup with one of these, does the meter show any real discrepancy between it and your manual white noise setup/special DVD setup?
I have used a meter before, and that's why I think they are a bit superfluous (not bad for 07.30 on a Sat eh?), but to be honest I've no real idea how good this meter was. It showed all my speakers were set to around the same level anyway - at least with the test tone.
Would be interesting too to find out if anyone first sets up with the tone test by ear, then checks with the meter, and then a setup DVD by ear, and again a meter check- any differences?
Wow very impressive, sent 9 email yesterday and received it 9 email this morning saying payment on the way
For those who missed out why don't one of you get become the buying form rusk and sold off the remaining 9 SPL meter??
I'm having problems picking up mail. Did you recieve the one confirming payment sent and my address? Do you have an ICQ number?

Fabryuk, YGM,

Cheers.
