Noticed this is just out in the US - anyone know when it's due over here ?
The bbfc site only came up with a trailer (15) for it
Phil
It's out early next year, according to Empire.
Apparently it's very gory, so expect an 18 cert.

Bet it's not as gory as the ( very ) graphic novel it's based on.
Still it's the first Alan Moore comic to make it to the screen so it must be viewed.

Looking forward to this, though I doubt if Hitler, The Elephant Man, Oscar Wilde and the porno scenes will be in it..;)

Well The Elephant man is definatley in it.
Apparently, it opened well in the US - took a decent $11million on it's opening weekend. Sounds promising.
Yahoo news item here (http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/ap/20011022/en/box_office_608.html).

Not according to a couple of reviews I've read on Aint-it-cool-news, I'm afraid. Seems they've toned done the rather more extreme and surreal elements of the graphic novel. Shame.

I've read some reviews that mentioned the welephant man being in it.
I've also seen a pic of him in the film.

Oh man, I just saw it, and I must say the women in From Hell are treated and talked about extremely badly, it made me feel very uncomfortable, and I even kind of turned away/didn't look during few scenes. Only the second movie achieved that, first being the total assault on senses called Requiem for a Dream.
That is not to say I didn't like or hated it, it's a very well done film, gets you in all the right moods and evokes all the right emotions, masterfully done, but very very depressing. And this is coming from someone who likes depressing films and music, so prepare for something totally horrid if it was a downer even for me.
Do see it! It's sad and grim and dark throughout, it never lets go.
Stay for a nice marylin manson remix at the end of the credits.
Anyone desiring that excellent music used in the score, email me. It's only about 2 and a half mins, a score track 18 from Stigmata movie.
I saw the trailer and to be honest I'm not sure if I could manage the film - was in fits of laughter over Johnny Depps and Heather Grahams (Especially her) accents!! I wasn't sure if they were good or not, but they were damn funny (just weird coming from them if you know what i mean).

Yeah, I heard Depp’s dialogue coach was Dick Van Dyke.

Apparently the cut being screened in the US at the moment was toned down considerably to achieve an R rating. The Cannes version is said to contain much more gore/violence and nudity. Over at the HorrorDVDs forum, someone said that they were at Cannes and Johnny depp said that the print shown there was was of the 'European cut'.
Hopefully we'll see that one.
Well, as the Forums' biggest Alan Moore fan (greatest living Englishman), I'm still looking forward to it.
Those who've read the graphic novel will know that it's Lynch's Elephant Man and Dr Treves that appear, Campbell drawing them exactly as portrayed in the film.
I bought some of the original artwork way back when (when I had some money!) and some signed scripts! Let's hope it's a monster success and I might be on to something.
