I'm guessing its probably just me who is going to admit listening to Michael Franks on here, but after hearing a couple of songs, I went out and bought four albums immediately.

Wow, this stuff is just great. If there's anyone else here who likes this guy's stuff, what albums are essential (although I intend to get them all eventually!)? Also, what other artists are similar and worth a listen?

Cheers, Vicster

What sort of style is he?

Ummm, a kind of, ummm, light jazz vocal I guess. Its probably really old people's music or something, but its great. Seriously :)

I've got the following on vinyl.

Art of Tea - 1975 (St Elmos Fire/Monkey See, Monkey Do)
Sleepy Gypsy - 1977 (my favorite - too many tracks to list)
One Bad Habit - 1980 (feat Baseball)
Objects of Desire - 1982 (Love Duets)
Skin Dive - 1985 (to poppy for me)

I really like his laid back style.
