View Full Version : Saving Private Ryan 2-disc R1
I've just read that the soon to be released 2-disc edition of "Saving Private Ryan" (region 1) won't have the DTS track. Surely this is a mistake - they have a single disc version now with DTS on, so why dont they just put all the extras on the 2nd disc ?

Because we have to buy more versions of the film which = more cash for them.
I was considering upgrading my R1 DTS copy to this new version, but will definitely not do this if there's no DTS :oh-hum:
do you have a link to the article?

The press release that we received in February stated that it will have both DTS and DD5.1. CRB, when was the article that you read published ? and where?
I can't check Universal's PR website at the moment to see if there are any recent ammendments, but I will check later.
Just what it says on Amazon amongst other places...

Amazon has also this set (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001NBLY0/103-1077844-1663818) up for pre-order. The SPR edition in that set includes an exclusive English DTS 5.1 Surround track as well as an English Dolby Surround track. So DTS could be exclusive for the boxset.

Wasn't the original DTS release a maximum encoded DTS track? If the new release has both DTS and DD5.1 won't the DTS track on that be a half bit rate DTS like most DTS releases are now a days?

Nope, it was half-bit rate release which made it even more impressive.
