The classic Where Eagles Dare was remastered last year on R1 dvd (not DTS tho). A good movie to think about.

IMO no film has dealt with the effects of war more successfully than The Deer Hunter. The SE R2 DVD is fab.

There used to be a very good thread focusing on movies about modern warfare, that is only wars since 1971 - it would definitely have mentioned movies like 'Three Kings', 'Black Hawk Down', and 'Rules of Engagement' but its not coming up under any search, looks like it has been deleted for some reason.

Though I guess with specifically wanting 5.1 sound you're just after some dumb-ass no-brainer action flick, so FMJ isn't for you ;)
