Caught this last night at a preview screening. Actually not that bad. A light hearted film in the same vein as "Clueless". Reese Witherspoon is just right for the role, but the star of the show has to be her dog "bruiser" - steals it everytime.

My girlfriend really enjoyed it, "Pure trash fun" she called it, and some women in the audience clapped and cheered - very American.

It's twee and will never appear on anyones top 10 list, however, for a mild diversion for a couple of hours you could do worse than turning your brain off and sitting in front of it.

Heh, yeah it was surprisingly good, but I personally went to see Selma Blair, she so so so... ahhhh :o

BTW, don't go and waste enough money for theater tix, parking, popcorn, drink and get bothered by some annoying cell phones, mothers giving birth, over hyped black people talking to the screen, etc, and use that cash to own the movie instead and watch it whenever and as many times as you want. Get the SE DVD in 11 days R!

...which would be just the once. Seeing as my UGC cinema pass gets me into as many films a month as I want at £9.99/month - this was certainly the best way for me to see the film.

Ooooooh, you got those passes huh?
I want to touch you...
They were tested in some middle states for a month by AMC theaters a while back and they probably didn't like it much as the program was cancelled, not profitable enough I guess.

I have to admit to being suprised how much I liked the film. I went to the last showing last night, and before hand put a copy in my flexicart at dv-depot. When I got back I decided I liked it enough that it can stay there. Will be looking forward to seeing it when JP3 comes out!

Ok DVD film students, watch this film carefully and play "guess where the deleted scenes go"! I can pinpoint one definite place where there was a scene cut by virtue of some really BAD ADR (it's when Reese and "some bloke" pull up in his car and the dialogue doesn't match their lip movement, in fact if I remember I believe they weren't even talking!).

I think the best part of this film was the song "Perfect Day", love that cheesy song.

And I saw it in America for my sister's b-day

HONEST

I wanted to go watch The Others instead but NOOOOOOO

Yeah, I noticed that too, very strange indeed. I could have sworn in another bit they kinda cut half halfway into what "some bloke" was saying. It could have been at the start of that scene.

I enjoyed this movie. I was quite suprised to see Stifflers mum in this film but she did well.

Caught this last Sunday - not bad, good fun film to watch - how come I haven't noticed Reese Witherspoon before though :D

ooo while I think about it I noticed something else. Why is it in certain scenes with Selma Blair it would be raining on her but no-one else? Was this supposed to be a "subtle" effect like lighting?

i would say that sums up my view of the film - it's not very 'laugh-out-loud' funny (bar a couple of scenes near the end) but pretty enjoyable on the whole

I saw this the other night, and wasnt that impressed with it. A typical feel-good american chick flick, and very predictable. There are a few geniune funny bits in the film, but not many.

In my opinion maybe worth renting for one night to keep the girlfriend happy, but i certainly wouldnt pay to buy it on DVD or see it at the cinema.

This was because originally this scene took place in a park where Witherspoon and "some bloke" were walking home together.
The director then decided to scrap the park scene but keep the dialogue & edit it over the top of the car scene, hence the words & mouth movements being different.

Also note that at the end of the film where Witherspoon is walking down steps outside court talking to reporters, her hair is slightly different once she reaches the botom of the steps and walks into the hallway, due to the hallway scene having to be reshot after Witherspoon cut all her hair off for another movie.

...and finally, note how the film originally ended at the scene listed above where Witherspoon walks outside the court into a bright light. The part where you see her graduating was added on after test screenings found that the audience wanted a more finished tied-up ending.
