View Full Version : Nighty Night
Anyone else watching? Pretty good. Julia Davies is a comedy legend.
''You know my feeling about asthma Linda.....Take a deep breath and get over it''. :D
''Terry slipped away last night....he died in his sleep, during Watercolour Challenge''. :notworthy

The trailers looked awful when it was on BBC3 but I gave it a chance last night on BBC2 and I thought it was great tv. Untelentingly cringeworthy and very dark but I really enjoyed it. Not sure how they can sustain the cringe value over a few episodes though
I really enjoyed this too.
 at the "performance" to Marillion's Lavender Blue!
Having watched all of these on BBC3 I can tell you that it just gets better and better and better  Three have excelled themselves with comedy this past year: Monkey Dust, Nighty Night, CyderDelic, Little Britain, Catterick etc etc.
Mike.
saw it last night and loved it.
especially her blind date in the restaurant.

Don't worry, they manage it very well indeed. Watched the BBC3 run of this a while back and every week I thought they'd gone as far as they could, only to discover the next week that there were further avenues of tastelessness to explore. By the end of the sixth and final episode I decided that I no longer had any limits as far as what was acceptible on TV and am eagerly awaiting BBC3's upcoming season of Crap-Smeared Dead Baby Hurling
A quality series and destined for cult status.:D

Another big fan of the show from it's BBC3 run here.
Whoever's commisioning the comedys for BBC3 is on a damn good winning streak and long may it continue.
And how refreshing is it to not have a laughter track ? That would have killed this show.
Mike.

I think an "oh my eyes, my eyes!" track would be more appropriate
I caught the last fifteen minutes yesterday and thought it was very funny.....who is this Woman? I've never heard of her or seen her before?
I think the choice of accent really fits aswell! :p

She was in the first couple of episodes of The Alan Clark Diaries too.
If you are a fan of her comedy, check out "Human Remains" (on DVD) - she co-wrote and performed with Rob Brydon.
It is quite clear that most of the "darkness" in the comedy comes from Julia Davis.
Loved the gag when she was massaging the bald guy's head and says, "This can bring about orgasms...I'll let you know".

She's also part of Chris Morris' regular band of players and has appeared in Brass Eye and Jam amongst other things.

the criteria for her blind date:
youngest age - 18
oldest- 71
minimum height - 6ft
with dark hair and a red jumper:clap:
cue angus with red jumper on:notworthy :notworthy
Up for tonights episode. :D
Absolutely the funniest thing I've seen on TV this year. Over these two episodes I've been completely aghast at this character, who easily edges out Chris Finch as the least sympathetic character on TV.
Well done to the BBC for allowing this to go ahead!

I missed the first episode but tuned in last night, and thought it was hilarious. The woman is pure evil, yet I still like her?! I loved the bit in the cafe ' It's the wrong ring, I hate it!'

We'll settle up later.... otherwise it just gets nasty.
Dunno if anyone will - but has anyone got a large-ish picture of Julia Davis they're willing to scan in and let me have, please?
fantastic, almost too hideous to watch but it's so well done that you feel compelled to keep watching.
"That's just the chemo talking"
Hideously addictive viewing, top stuff indeed

Excellent!
Cheers MetalGearAl
Bump for tonights omnibus on BBC3 and 2100hrs. All six episodes back to back.
Just watched one of them, and only raised a single smile....
Ho hum.

I saw this on it's BBC3 run and it is uniformly excellent until the last episode when it all got a bit too farcical.
Best lines for me...
something along the lines of...
Gill: You can't trust doctors... look at Harold Shipman, Dr Crippin, Fred West.
Cath: Fred West was a builder
Gill: Oh Cath... do you call what he did to those poor girls building?
Actually sounds crap writing it down like that but it had me in stitches :)
I agree that the final ep was pushing it a bit, but overall I thought the standard was high. And that last ep did include... Linda admitting to being the "slut" who had slept with Terry, in Jill's house no less. "Where?" asks Jill. "In the front!".
