I've got the R1 version, it's a really enjoyable series imo.
I've seen the first four episodes so far and I forgot how good anime is. Long gone are the days of buying one episode of guyver every month on vhs:p
I digress, Hellsing is a great series but as previously said get them from somewhere other than the UK, due to the ridiculous price.
I've seen the complete set (4 discs) for about £40 on various dvd retialers.
Its a great series. Although the ending may leave you a little cold.
I've seen a limited DVD set which comes with two 23cm long guns! :dork: I'm in two minds about getting it. The big thing about the set is the price. It will be $135 (inc. p&p)!! :| And I've been out of work for over a month now and my funds are getting low.
The guns do look cool but I might just try and find the series set on it's own. What would be a good price to pay?
I've also seen the full series on 2 DVD's and on 4 DVD's! Which ones have you lot got?
Thanks,
Psycho
PS. Is this series anything to do with the new film coming out this year, 'Van Helsing'?

I've got the guns and they are fantastic.
I posted a link to a few for sale in the Anime sticky.
You may have a little hassle getting them through customs at the minute though!
The R4 version is the cheapest in the box but if you want to get the R1 box you may be able to find it with the limited blood bag (the other discs come with limited figures which you may struggle to find).
This will help you find the cheapest price:

Is that a good price for the two guns and the full series on DVD?
From the picture of them, it looks like two boxes. One for each gun (black and silver) but one box has the DVD in. It's just the other box looks like it's got room for a DVD. I didn't want to buy it anf find out you're meant to get the DVD series with each gun.
Psycho
Its a hell of a lot of money - particularly if you dont know if you like the show yet?! Yep it,s two guns and the dvd of the show.
You can get a nice bootleg version in a two disc digi pack thingy quite cheaply - it even has the English soundtrack (if you want it). Its very cheap why dont you try this before you leap into it??
Or look in the classifieds here and see if anyone has a copy to sell?
Tis a good series... I got the four discs seperate from R4 land - theres now a boxset?
Anyway - recommended.

dont know if anyone else noticed, but it took a long time for the series to 'get going'.
I think the story doesnt really start until half way through.
Not that its a bad thing, the beginning episodes are very cool.
great anime.

Another thumbs up from me! I bought it on word-of-mouth, and it rocks :)
i) Vampires. Cool ones at that!
ii) Satanic overtones.
iii) Secret organisation.
iv) The lead female character dies in episode 1... I wasn't expecting *that*!
v) Big guns everywhere...
It just doesn't get any better  (/runs off gibbering)

I got the first dvd from Play to try, it's great and now I'm tempted by the limited DVD set which comes with two 23cm long guns that Psycho mentioned, where is the best place to get this from?

I think it was a limited edition.
Ebay may be the only place now?
I did find a site last night that I presume was selling the "with guns" version. Apparently they were limited to a 1000 copies and he wanted £105.
I just discovered a search on ebay will get you the complete series for around £20 in p&p.

I think I paid about £75 for mine (but it was ages ago).
If you look around you maybe able to get the entire series for as little as £15 on the digipack bootleg version.
Anyway hope you manage to get the version you want!
Funny you should mention that, Ive just bought a 2 disc copy for £14 with insured posting. Seeing as 6 epsiodes is only about 2-2.5 hours, I don't see why its on 4 dvds. (D'oh, more dvds more you can charge the consumer.)
I presumed the 2 disc digipack was the Japanese edition and the US/UK was 4 discs. It seems ALL the ebay versions are 2 dicsers.

as a general rule japanese disks are a lot more expensive than uk/us/aus ones (and with a lower episode count).
the reason all the ebay versions are two disks is because ebay is every pirates wet dream, little chance of getting caught (especially as ebay don't care as long as they get their fees) and it's well known.
