View Full Version : True Romance on TV last night
Watched this last night and it had some parts that wasn't on the video release. The video release claimed to be "uncut". I haven't seen the dvd release so don't know what cut is on the dvd.
Anybody else spot this? The bits I saw on tv that wasn't in the video release included Alabama smashing the gangster repeatedly over the head with the shotgun after she kills him. She also shoots him a lot more times. On the video release she just shot him once.
Video release was Uncut cinema version, or advertising speak for a heavily cut version.
and the dvd contains the more violent director's cut - and from your description that's what was shown last night. (all the R1 and UKR2 dvd releases to date have been the 'director's cut')
Yep I watched this last night and spotted some bits I'd not seen before (only seen it on vhs and cinema before) notably the alabama beating and the gunfight at the end is also a lot more bloody.
As far as i recall, there was a shockingly bad edit at the end of the old cinema version
where Alabama's shooting of Officer Dimes is replaced by a gangster 'coming back to life' to shoot him, to spare the audience the awful sight of a woman with a gun (1995 or 1895? Its' hard to tell sometimes).
wow good point I hadn't noticed that they'd changed that.

You may want to include some spoiler tags there Chris21. :nono:
But yeah, I watched this on DVD (for the first time) just one day before it was shown on TV. I have the R1 Director's Cut S.E. It's quite a brutal film but fantastic.
Looking forward to hearing QT's commentary.
