The No Doubt version is good as far as covers go, but the original is better. The video to the No Doubt version is very good, with Gwen looking very :norty:
If you're into your dance music, checkout the Luquid People vs Talk Talk version, nice little remix of the original tune.
There's actually another thread on this but I can't be bothered to look it up.
I spotted it in Asda's chart a week or so ago but I don't know if it's in the proper charts. I much prefer it to the Talk Talk version

The Talk Talk one always reminds me of the tampax advert for some reason.
The Talk Talk version doesn't have the lovely Gwen in the vid though.
:luv:
Wins for me everytime! :norty:

Though she looks better in the video for Underneath It All IMO
She'd be the perfect woman if she had tits :(

I still prefer No Doubt's version to the original. The heavier sound suits the song better and is a more dynamic up-beat version, especially on the chorus with the lead guitar doubling the bass riff. Up to date production also benefits the song overall.
I much prefer Gwen Stefani's vocal as I feel the melody suits a female lead better (Only Morrissey could have pulled off that vocal for a bloke IMO). The drums are also markedly better, but that may be down to producton values more than anything.
The original is a bit soft and floaty for my taste, but again that may be due to the date of the recording and the production.
I think the No Doubt version is excellent - was one of my favourite songs of last year, much better than the original IMO, but I could put that down to my age and not remembering the original.
I got their 'Singles' Album last year after hearing it and still play it quite a bit.
Oh, and Gwen looks HOT in the video - she's lovely. Not very chesty, but still gorgeous. I like the whole 'Chicago' theme to the vid.
gwen is one of the most amazing looking women in music imo, even without boobs :D
love this song too
I'm not a huge fan of all this 30's look everywhere at the mo, but she looks INCREDIBLE while being dragged up 'death row' - y'know, the open orange suit, messy hair, etc...
