Is it supposed to be funny in films when they do that stupid matrix style kick, dodge etc? Every single "comedy" film made after it came out seems to contain at least one. I just don't see whats so funny about them, yet the whole idiot audience at cinemas laugh themselves to death everytime one comes on.

I have to confess that the Matirxesc scene in Shrek! was pretty amusing. Although I do wish that film makers would stick to one film type or another. For Example, I finally got around to watching Romeo Must Die a week or so ago, and thought that in general it was an entertaining movie. However the wirework took away any element of believeability and as such this is niether a fantasy nor a reality movie.

Don't get me wrong, I do think that wirework has it's place and in movies like The Matrix and CTHD it can work very well, it just does not fit in a film which is supposed to be acepted a true to life.

Having re-read that it's probably a bit off topic, oh well.

Although I don't think that it was supposed to intentionally funny, the bit with Drew Barrymore on a wire in Charlie's Angels (after the bit when she's tied to a chair) definitely looks out of place. The whole fight scene seems to have her moving much slower than everyone else involved, liking in a 'walking on the moon' type way. Maybe she's subjected to different laws of gravity.

Sorry, getting a bit more off topic.

shaolin soccer has got more matrix references than you can shake a stick at... so everybody who moans that the matrix just ripped off hong kong movies should realize that it is as popular over there as it is in the west.

i think every film should have a 'matrix thing'. it's much funnier when you see it 40 times :P
