did this anime exist...it did exist and there was a series

now I remember years ago when we first got sky they showed animated versions (which I now understand is anime....oh how nieve was I) of some of the Lensman books and I remember them being excellent, well to someone of my age then they were.

Am I right? Am I wrong? Or am I just dreaming?

and if they did....are they available on DVD anywhere as I'd love to see them again.......I remember seeing 2 different ones and both were very very different to each other.....don't ask me for specifics as my memory is fuzzy at best

Yes, it did exist. I have a VHS tape of the film. It was called lensmen and was handled through Manga UK.

Lensman was the first anime I ever bought - only one tape was ever released in the UK (a movie) and sadly no DVD release seems to be planned anywhere....

not sure about multiple episodes, although an old anime/cartoon C4 showed at 5am called Ulysees 31 was kind of similar in theme/style etc??

I remember seeing the trailer for Titan AE in the cinemas - talk about ripoff!!

no definately wasn't Ulesses (sp) as I know that series all to well

I'm not talking series as in tv series, I mean series of more than one movie....both that I saw were shown on Sky Movies back to back (when it was still sky movies)

let me try and remember all the bits I do remember

each one began with how he got the lens on his hand, this was different in each one.....although thinking about it from a more experienced point of view now, it could have actually been 2 seperate characters although they had the same name and if I remember correctly, the lens did different things in each one that I saw.....One of them it seemed that he was the only lensman and in the other there was a lot of them including some sort of tenticled creature (hentai anyone ;))that had 2 lenses on his tenticles

that's all I really remember unfortunately...I remember big green vines although that bit is probably a mix up with Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors

wow....I was right, there were 2 movies.....well actually according to IMDB there was a movie and a TV series that must have been put together and shown on Sky Movies as one.....

and there is apparently also a third movie released in 2000 called Lensman: Power of the Lens, although details were sketchy on this one
