There is a spanish release as well but the one to get is the italian release. It has both english and italian sountracks and itīs in itīs original apect ratio. It is anamorphic as well if that is of any interest to you. Unfortunately all the extras are in italian without english subtitles. you can get it from www.dvd.it as Dellamorte Dellīamore. Oh, and it looks fine too. Cool movie.

Its another italian film like Il Gattapardo (? spelling) with a star who only speaks english so either laguage involves some dubbing

The Italian disk from Medusa is superb, really beautiful transfer and both audio tracks are good. This disk is worth every penny although all the extras are in Italian it is still fun to watch them for behind the scenes footage.

Like rodrigo obon said you can get it from www.dvd.it (http://www.dvd.it) and also from Xploited Cinema (http://www.xploitedcinema.com) where I got mine.

There is an english option in the site. Just look to the upper right side of the screen and you will see a small text that says english version or something to that effect .Itīs under La grande TV & Cofanetti. Or you can get it from exploitedcinema. Happy hunting.

DVD.it is a nightmare, if anything goes wrong. Tony at xploitedcinema.com is very nice and it's only $30. What's that: about Ģ4 these days?

Did anyone ever get the Anchor Bay R1 edition of this? I know it doesn't have the Italian track, but it would seem a lot cheaper and easier to get hold of than the Medusa version.

I have the R1 and it's fine. Obviously I would of preferred if Anchor Bay had licensed the extras and (slightly) superior print from the Medusa disc but the English track works for the film (I believe it was primarily shot in English and is the Director's preferred version) and the print is still nice, the short doc is good too.

BTW I absolutely love the film and would definitely recommend it to any Euro Horror/Zombie fans out there. It's such a shame the director seemingly abandoned film for his family, hopefully he'll return soon.

er seems to have been doing mostly TV films since 2000 and was second unit director on The Brothers Grimm so not vanished as such.
As this is an Italian film shouldn't it be moved to the world cinema thread

Yes but TV isn't exactly living up to his potential. Looks like he came out with an interesting Crime feature last year though.

neither were the films prior to Dellamorte Dellamore looking at the reviews so probably a one shot director

Stagefright is actually pretty good.

I haven't seen The Sect or The Church.

Talking about waking the dead, where did this thread rise from?

Moving to the World Cinema Forum....

Dunno. The version we're talking bout here is an English dub.

Well he was building up his career (from an actor) up to that point with Argento. It may well of been luck, but he states in the interview he had to stop working as his wife was ill (if my memory serves me) so we never really got to find out.

There is an R1 release. It's ok. The Medusa release has the Italian track and some extras. I won't post a link but there is a decent priced one on Ebay right now.

Soavi stopped working to care for his terminally ill child, I believe. The movie "The Son's Room" - about a family experiencing the loss of a son - was co-written by Soavi's partner Heidrun Scleef, the mother of his child.

His latest cinematic release was "Arrivederci Amore, Ciao" and is due on French DVD in April (no English subs, apparently (thanks to dvdmaniacs for those details).

NoShame released "Uno Bianca", a crime TV miniseries from Soavi last year and it's meant to be pretty good (I think dvdtimes reviewed) it - it's certainly on my "to get" list this year.

I'm a big fan of his earlier movies, but they may not be for everybody. Stagefright is a fun slasher, The Church grew out of the projected second sequel to Demons (which featuted Soavi as an actor), and The Sect is a grower.
