Could someone tell me the best place to put the speakers? At the moment I have them on the wall behind me, but someone told me they would sound better, if I put them on the sidewalls.

yep, if you can place the on the side walls about 0.5 above the listening position would be alright. The middle bit of the eltax should be level with your sitting position.
