I have had a few questions about Jessops price match on the Minolta DiMage X20 digicam thread on the bargain forum. I think it is more relevant to people surfing this forum.

To summarize :

Basically if you see a better price on the web (cameras ,camcorders etc) , take a printed copy to your local Jessops for a price match. They will clarify your claim with HQ and match (not beat) the internet price. However several things to consider :

They do not guarantee they will price match everytime. I tried to price match a Camcorder recently and Jessops couldn't come anywhere near the price (£150 more !)

Also they do not price match with european companies (like Pixmania etc) who set up UK web addresses. This is because Jessops maintain tax on these companies is very different and they (the overseas co) can charge less ! In the case of my camcorder - British companies were a lot cheaper than Pixmania - and still Jessops could not beat it !

In various conversations with Jessops staff - the digicam world is a little uncertain at present (ie development of camera phones etc) and Jessops are increasing the number of shops at this juncture !! Worse for their shop assistants - Jessops will be flogging warranties a lot more - in the same way as..........(wait for this .........) DIXONS !...unreal or what ?

Anyway sorry if I am repeating myself ...but it is worth moving across this thread.

Correction :
For those interested i find the Barclaycard CC benefits useful - on top of Jessops price match - you get one year additional warranty. You can not claim Barclaycard price Promise on top of Jessops Price match ! You need to pay full price for this . See Barclaycard TandCs !

Ah right. Cheers for that. Was thinking of getting a price match on a company with a .co.uk address but based in Germany. But it looks like a no no.

Cheers for the info m8,

Has anyone tried to get them to price match memory before?
I was gonna see if I could get some Compact Flash memory but wasnt sure if they'd price match it at all.

Cheers
Baz

Jessops always instantly match their own website prices, which are often very competative and much cheaper than in store.

I tried with a 128mb memory stick but they didn't want to know. Got it online in the end.

Interestingly you will invalidate any Barclaycard Price promise claim if you use the shop/web price match scheme in the first place ! (correcting my first post above !)

i priced matched the 128mb duo card form an amazon buye, 35.00. I'll allways try as they wanted 70 before. (rang up and asked first)

True - Barclaycard insist on absolute equivalance of products so e.g. if the lower priced outlet will give you an extra year warranty Barclaycard will refuse as they aren't identical terms/goods.

They cocked up my TV reclaim so I got the major retailer's extra 5 year warranty and £500 back anyway ;)

I got them to price match a Sony camcorder with Amazon last week - they wouldn't touch Pixmania, but still a hefty £100 reduction.
