Heads up for anyone who might be interested in this, to replace Still Game (a scottish show gone national) it looks like the BBC are finally showing the Northern Ireland comedy show Give My Head Peace national now as well (been going for a good while over here now, at least 5-6 seasons)

Basically about a protestant cop who marries a catholic girl and how they cope with there 2 families.

I definitely recommend it, it's generally very popular over here in Norn Iron though I am not sure how some of the humour will translate. Most of the humour is daft and translates easily theres just the odd joke based on councillors etc from here which people not from Northern Ireland might not get. I can also say it's probably the only decent show we have produced unless you like programs about Daniel O'Donnell having tea with his mammy :gag:

Anyway, give it a go, all you can do is not like it! :D

i did give it a go last week and found it deeply unfunny. way too localised and the acting was appalling.

still game was brilliant. i thought there was 2 series of still game, why did they only show one?

Maybe they'll turn up later on.

I can understand that, it's not exactly the best acted show :D

Agree about Still Game, loved it. They actually showed a mixture of season 1 and season 2 because I have season 1 on dvd and some of the episodes shown on tv were not on the dvd.

i thought they'd mixed a few as i spotted that one ep was made in 2003 and the others 2002. is this available on dvd then?

i really liked the humour of the show. some moments had me gasping for breath they were that funny, like the "dead man's milk" scene:lol: also the shop keeper and his fat wife "pure balti"

Yep season 1 and 2 are available on dvd - season 2 is pricey though, retail £29.99 but £24.99 on websites!

My best moment is when Jack and Victor walked into the bar during the cold episode and the bartender comments on how Jack is getting a bit 'filled out'

Jack then replies 'aye everytime i shag your missus she makes me a sandwich!'
