Good news for fans of Keith Gordon's excellent anti-war drama 'A Midnight Clear'.

After the disappointment of the pan & scan R1 version, it looks as though it's being released in Korea in all it's anamorphic widescreen glory! (though no doubt lacking the R1 commentary).

Korean DVDs (http://www.koreandvds.com/dvddetail.html?id=14211) have it for $15 + shipping ;)

I may be completely wrong, but I recall reading somewhere that the R1 was open matte and was pretty close to Keith Gordon's intended ratio. I'm open to correction on this...

Hmmn, according to reviews it's open-matte, but also cropped at the sides. To quote one:
The full-frame image feels constricted and claustrophobic. The picture would have looked much more natural had it been preserved in its original aspect ratio of 1.85:1.

If you're going to order from a Korean retailer, you might was well throw in JSA (Joint Security Area), which is just as good as Midnight Clear, imo.
