Does anyone know if any (or all) the tintin stories are available on DVD, usual suppliers only seem to list the dreaded VHS.

Cheers

You can get all the Tintin episodes on DVD from France. There is a 10 disk Intégrale set of all 21 episodes coming out on November 7th. Amazon.fr (http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005Q3LO/qid=1003916069/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1_1/402-1263091-8602549) don't have any technical details, but the individual sets all have English dubs and I'm pretty sure they are subtitled as well.

More details at musicbox.fr (http://www.musicbox.fr/cgi-bin/musicbox/0006936?i6kRWGhT;;441) .

English, Spanish and French dubs or subtitles.

Thread resurrection :D

There's a complete Tintin set in the HMV sale for £30, with my student discount that comes to £27, is this the wa to go if I want the complete Tintin collection?

i bought this the other week.

yes it is all episodes.

complete with all the rubbish AB transfers :p

the most disappointing thing is the lack of english subs, would like to see what its like in french.

just in case ur wondering it is a 5 disc set, while the separate 5 vols are 2 discers.

i thought i was ripped off, but then i checked my vol 3 set (the only one i previously had) they are single layer discs, while in this HMV set they are dual layer.

i wish AB coulda done a better job, the look like they were ripped straight from VHS.

Woah I totally took it for granted that Tintin is French...I saw every episode when I was younger and thought they were cool in English. Hmm.... do I dare seek out the French releases?

Well Tintin and his creators are actually Belgian. But it's OK. We tend to get assimilated to the French all the time. One gets used to it. :)

That being said, the TV cartoons are probably a Belgian - French - ... coproduction. So you are correct in that respect.

DVDFR.com seems to indicate that the French DVD's all have 3 soundtracks (French, English, Spanish) and subtitles in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Surf to http://www.dvdfr.com/dvd/dvd.php?id=4069 and then click on any of the "volumes" to get that info.

However, the Tintin discs lack a review that would tell us exactly what the picture quality is like.

Also, most of the discs that make up the set are now unavailable both on Amazon.fr and DVDZone2 (http://www.dvdzone2.com/dvd/search.asp?t=1&kw=Tintin&kwt=t&pl=all).

So things are not looking good to get a decent release of Tintin from acrosss the channel.

Are the french releases the same as the UK anchor bay volumes?
