View Full Version : Plasma owners - please look in!
Hi,
I'm seriously thinking about getting a Plasma (either the Pioneer 434 or the Panny 6) and I'm a bit concerned about a couple of threads I've read about how they perform in daylight.
Can anyone comment about how they compare to CRT's - I don't really want to have to watch TV during the day in a darkened room!
thanks in advance

Eh? They are find in daylight, just as good as CRT's.
Thats one of the benefits of a Plasma over a Projector.

I have tha Panny version 4 and its no different to using a CRT for daylight viewing.. in fact with the screen being so flat there is less reflection
get your hand in your pocket..... you wont regret it

That's what I thought. I was just concerned by a thread I'd read at the AV forums from a guy who's bought one and found he couldn't watch it because of light coming through the window.
Thanks to both of you, for setting my mind at rest.
:)
Prob sat with window behind him !! No prob with viewing Plasma... no darkened rooms needed..!
You'll be fine. Worth seeing both in the flesh as a lot of people say the 434 has the edge on the P6 with the older P5 being better. The PA-20 may be more like it though.
P6 owner here and i have no problem with light, I think the guy in the thread on the AV forum has sunlight falling directly onto the screen.
You wouldn`t be able to see the screen in that situation no mater which type of TV you have ?
As for choice of screens they are both very good but you need to see both properly setup then decide, The price of the Panasonic and the Contrast ratio were both factors in my final decision.
