I am happy to report that Les Amants du Pont*Neuf (directed by Leos Carax, 1991) has an excellent anamorphic transfer (IMHO) on Arrow DVD. English subtitles are removable. There are not a lot of extras, however.

Now all major Carax films are available on R2 DVDs. The three others: Boy meets girl, Mauvais sang, and Pola X are all available from French
sites (all anamorphic with removable English subtitles).

There are also R1 releases of Pola X, Mauvais Sang and Boy Meets Girl. I've reviewed the R1 release of Mauvais Sang (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/index.cgi?page=Review&id=244&story=2090) for DVD Times (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk) and it is a superb disk. I also have the Fox Lorber release of Pola X and it is also a superb anamorphic transfer with DD 5.1 sound and a commentary from Guillaume Depardieu.

I haven't seen any of the French R2 disks, but according to fnac.com, Mauvais Sang has:

The film, filmographies, trailer, making of 'images' (which could be anything, stills or short film), one out-take (which is different from the Fox Lorber outtake), a TV feature 'Big Plan' which sounds like a TV special, and press articles.

Pola X has:

The film, filmographies, music and falls(? I have no idea what this is), outtakes (which looks like the Karaoke singing session that G Depardieu mentions was cut from the film), sort feature 'San Titre' ('Untitled'), Metropolis (another television programme), and press articles.

Boy Meets Girl has:

Film, filmographies, stills, press articles and Denis Lavant's casting session.

So they all have pretty decent specs. Although the R2 of Pola X has a different selection of extras, I think that the R1 would be hard to beat, especially with 5.1 sound and a commentary, but the French DVD of Mauvais Sang might be the better release.

Good news that Arrow have released a decent version of Les Amants Du Pont Neuf. The French release is superb quality and has a long documentary on the making of the film, but has no English subtitles for either the feature or the extras.

Ouch. Nobody mentioned Les Amants is truly awful.

I did like Pola X although it's nothing amazing. The Region 1 disc is reviewed here (http://www.dvdauthority.com/polax.htm).

What? That film is one of my all time favoourites! From a man of your great test this is a serious lapse of good taste :D

Thought Pola X was rubbish though - just goes to show you!
