My amp (Yam RX-V795aRDS) is on a shelf directly under my Philips WS TV. It is separated from the TV by about 3 inches and a glass top the TV sits on.

Recently I have noticed the amp interferes with the TV picture. It is hardly noticeable when watching TV or R2/4 DVDs. However when I play R1 DVDs there is a noticeable flicker in the bottom left hand corner of the screen which disappears when I turn the amp off. If I turn the amp on/off I sometimes get a discoloration on the screen at the bottom left. This I can get rid of by again turning the amp on/off a few times. Seems almost like a degauss!

I don’t know if the fault is with the TV or the amp.

Apart from moving the amp – which would be very difficult with my current set up - is there anything I can put between the TV and the amp that would filter out the interference?

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

I seem to be in the same predicament as you, since having a re-shuffle of all my AV gear and placing my amp under the TV, I too get the flickering in the bottom right of my screen. As to the answer for this problem I tend to think, that moving the amp would be the only cure..............damn! :(

Moving the amp would be difficult as I am subject to using an aesthetic stand chosen by my wife  that means the amp can ONLY fit under the TV.

Its either find a way to shield the TV or try and convince my wife to ditch her 'wrought iron' TV/video stand!

The shielded option it is then ;)

I also had a similar problem when I got my Denon 3801 a few months back. It's a seriously large bit of kit and I ended up with it on the top shelf of the TV stand. The result was a big green patch on the TV. I'm assuming it's caused by electromagnetic interference from the power supply (any physicists out there:) ). I would suggest you move your amp first and think about shielding second - you could end up damaging the TV.

Thats whta I did! Moved the amp to the bottom and put the video and DVD under the TV. Cured the problem and no cost involved!
