Anyone else heard this rumour or know any more details of what the NEW extras are likely to include. I thought the current version was pretty much definitive.
I'd love to see 5-star editions of Aliens and Alien 3 :D
Mentioned on The Digital Bits last week. No details have been listed far as I can see as yet. What more can they add?

More extras to 2, 3, & 4, + a DTS track.
But to be honest, this still isnt enough to upgrade considering nobody gives a monkeys about parts 3 & 4.
And when Alien 5 gets released, it will be replaced yet again.

I was under the impression that the 5* edition was to be a boxset like Diehard.
Could be wrong though, If it only of the 1st film, then I agree with what someone else said, What can they add to it other than a DTS track.

Can't see a boxset coming out some how, although I won't complain if they include bags of extras for both Aliens and Alien 3.
I'll sell the boxset I've got now to some poor sap who doesn't know any better! :D
I would be happy with DTS tracks and commentaries on the other movies - I want a commentary on Aliens with the man Bill Paxton!!!

They could do what Warner did with the Exorcist and add the recent Mark Kermode documentry on Alien to the new edition. Though that still falls way short of a 5 star edition.

Alien will probably be revisited for its 25th anniversary in 2004.
It'll probably just be the current release with the now infamous '5th disc' as a further supplement.

No No No!! 5 Star Colelction means just the fist one... despite the word Collection.. if you notice, the Die Hard boxset isn't called 5 star, but if you buy the first one on its OWN, then its called Die Hard: 5 Star Collection ... :) I'd like 5 star editions of all 3, but the 4th one was terrible, and as for the 5th, dobt I'll even bother seeing that...
Lets hope not,i could see the point in doing a more in depth release of Alien 3.As it was considerably changed during the production, of course it is by an important director and the current version is unsatifactory but i think all avenues have been explored on the first 2 films.

Not with 'Aliens' - even if Cameron can't be bothered to contribute look what they did for Terminator 2 - more of same please!

I think they could make the first two films discs 10 times better ... Just like the T2 disc, as "...Wanda" has told us... they al need commentaries, documentaries, making-ofs, interviews, screenplays, still galleries, isolated scores, special menus, tralers for all films, etc etc etc.... oh im starting to drool! :) hehe :D

I dont agree. Yes, they were **** poor films, no arguement there, but FIncher's Alien 3 had massive chunks butchered from his movie. Personally, i'd like to see a seamless branched editon like T2, with Finher's extended cut - which was far longer than the original.. A3 was the most messed about movie from the saga - no wonder it dissapoints so much.
Also, A Res is crap, but i heard on the net FOX have 30 minutes of unreleased material. It's not going to improve the movie a great deal, but as an Alien fan, it does intrigue me as to what the missing/deleted footage may contain.
oh, and on the subject of Alien (5 star edition), i really cant see what else would be worth while including - the disc already IS a 5 star disc, loads of extras. Thanks, but no thanks, FOX. i'll be keeping my normal but yet vastly superior disc for a while yet.

Well I think Alien wa great, Aliens was even better, Alien Res SUCKS TO HELL and Alien 3 is really under-rated. Not as good as the firstt two, but as with any Fincher film, really great! :)
If they go ahead and make Alien 5, that'll screw up any 5* boxset anyway.....

If they do go for a new box then I'd like to see the Mark Kermode thing from last week included and both versions of Aliens using seamless branching
I've heard that the 5* edition will feature an *exclusive* commentary from the favourite 1980's pop sensation, 5 Star.
Can anyone confirm this?
