I have just watched the R4 version of this film (Original) And I really enjoyed the film but was somewhat perplexed by the crappy ending? Anybody any insights into what seemed to me a botched ending?

I thought the film was pretty good. Don't remember the ending being botched, but it was a little convoluted.
