I bought an iPod from the Apple refurb store a few weeks ago and was very happy with it.

My sister wanted one for travelling to and from Uni and i bought her one last week (as she doesnt have a credit card). But does anyone know how the 1 year warranty works? Is it in my name or does it just apply to the iPod?

For instance, if it did develop a fault could she send it back herself or would i have to do that? Is the warranty a bit of paper?

Sorry for all the questions but i couldnt see a clear answer to these from the Apple website.

Cheers

It should be like any other product and go by the serial number on the item. If you'd bought it as a gift for someone and it then broke, it would be strange for Apple to expect you to be responsible for sending it back, rather than the owner.

AFAIK the warranty on any refurbished kit is the same as any Apple kit, 1 year.

The warranty applies to the product, not to the original owner, but to validate the fact that the product is still in the warranty period, Apple may request a copy of the sales receipt to show that it is still 'within warranty'.
