Bought Blair Witch 2 today (region 2). Having major problems with it.

When I try to boot the disk the player gets stuck and the disk keeps spinning but doesn't load.

I'm getting the same on my Wharfedale 750 and the DXR3 on my PC.

Anyone else had this problem or is it just the fact that the disk looks like it's been sandpapered by the staff at my local WH Smiths?

Probably, although the biggest problem is that you brought the disc in the 1st place.:D
Seriously though, get the disc replaced.

I'll certainly get the disk replaced as I don't appreciate being sold damaged goods, but I'd still like to know if the non-loading problem is due to this. I've managed to play disks in far worse condition than this before.

As to why I bought it, I've heard wildly differing opinions on it. I'll be interested to just see what has been done with it (as Blair Witch seems pretty unsequelable (new word there)). Seems fairly good on the extras front too. Two documentaries which are labelled as 'feature length'. In my book that means more than an hour each. I'm doubtful though.

RDJ - Probably a longshot but you could try repeatedly pressing the menu button when you get to the point where it freezes. This works on 709 players on some discs which do what your describing.
Might be worth a try, but more likely the disc needs replacing.

Gave it a quick try on the Wharfie but to no avail. The disc doesn't load and crash, it gets stuck while trying to load. On the Wharfedale it just keeps saying loading and does nothing (with the DVD logo screen up constantly) and on the DXR3 it locks up the computer.

Just out of interest (not that I intend to buy it) but the copy I saw in HMV sported a sticker that proclaimed it to be a 2 disc set.

Is this so?
The mind boggles as to why it would have received this treatment (although it does seem depressingly par for the course these days)

Yes, it's a 2 disk set (2 DVD5s. Bit of a con really).

Extras are

Director's commentary
Trailers
Shadow of the Blair Witch documentary
Burkittsville7 documentary
Music Video
Interviews and bios.

Disk 2 actually works although I've not taken a look beyond checking that it loads.

I'd hazard a guess that there's a deep scratch on the disc then.
