I tend to watch them in their original language with English subtitles.
I was wondering what is the most popular way to enjoy these great films.

Just like you do, I can't stand dubbed movies myself

Original soundtrack with Subs is the only way to watch them.

Legend of a Fighter has an excellent English dubtrack though.:D

Original soundtrack with Subs.

I hate it when the mouths move and sound dont match.

Depends on the movie. If there's no original soundtrack (ala The Big Boss/Fist of Fury etc.) then I'm quite happy with the english dub.

If there is an original soundtrack, then I have to go with that.

Same here for me I much prefer watching movies such as Fist of Fury and Enter the Dragon in its original language with English subtitles.

Don't know what it is but i find I can watch movies such as those much easier via that method and in any case at least with the subtitles you get a proper translation of what is being said instead with English dubbing that tends to replace words and phrases.

I'm pretty sure Fist of Fury has no original language, and Enter The Dragon's original language is english?

With a bag of Revels, 4 cans of 1664, the lights down low and leaning on me left elbow (oh sorry, that last bit only applies to Vivid titles)

If u mean an original in terms of hearing Bruce's voice etc... then there isn't an original because one wasn't recorded. Virtually no HK film until the 90's was recorded in synch-sound. However both Mandarin and Cantonese tracks were created for both films to sell to the HK (canto), Taiwanese and Chinese (both Mandarin) markets.

Also, the post dubs tend to fit what was being said so make it more accesible rather than cheesy English dubbing.

Legend of a fighter is an either way, as neither track fit the mouths since it was neither an English nor Mandarin script. It was supposed to be Cantonese. Unfortunately, as with all early HKL titles, no Cantonese track is supplied. In any case, the tracks for LoaF were in terrible shape and I think the Canto one was completely unavailable.

Ive watched all my HKL's with the commentary first ( since i already own all the films) but otherwise watch with Cantonese (or original lang) track.

I must confess, that of my various versions of "dragons Forever" i prefer the dubbed VHS - the film just lends itself to cheese, and the dubbing is fantastically hilarious!

I've always preferred the English dub of Drunken master over the Mandarin dub. It just suits the tone of the film perfectly

though with regards to anime, dubbed is the only way for me.

Hijacking this thread but why English dubs on Anime?
I find most of them appalling and not a patch on the original Japanese voice actors.

The character voices match up more and there is generally more emotion.

kaaaaaaaaaaaneeeeeeeedaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

or the madness of Van in Escaflowne?

aaaaaarghhhhh i was forced to watch Kenshin OVA in english and he sounded like a drugged up mannequin

Generalyl the few good dubs i've heard have been the Studio Ghibili releases

Oh yes and original language with subs for HKL ;)

Well if I'm watching a 2.35:1 movie on my 14" TV then 4:3 (Pan & Scan) it crops them on-the-fly to 1.85:1 you see. :D
...and if I'm watching on my 32"WSTV then 16:9 (Wide)
