View Full Version : Help with amp purchase.
Looking to buy an AV amp that can run a 5.1 system in one room (obviously!) and run a set of stereo speakers in another room.
Budget is around £800, will I have to buy a separate power amp to run the second room?
Cheers in advance.
Denon 3803 (not sure if its up for replacement soon). That's 7.1 multi-room and should be at about your budget range. If not then the top end Pioneer's I believe are multi-room too.
If you do not want 7.1 then you can assign the two back-surround ams to the other zone :) Or you can get a seperate power amp and still use 7.1 in the main zone.

The 3803 is £599 at the moment but it should come down when the 3805 is available next month.
Richer Sounds do the Pioneer AX3 for £599.

richer sounds stock the cambridge audio stuff so you could listen to both in the one place!
The benefit of having 2 separate amps will be (in theory) better sounding stereo in your other room and greater flexibility - in the future you could use the stereo amp as the basis of a lovely hifi setup...
