Just got this "newsletter" from MangaUK :eek: a shock to be sure.
Apologies to those who know already know this:

Personally I'm looking forward to ST II release, I know MangaUK may not have the best rep, but the DVD content of the R2 Urotsukidoji 1&2 was a good effort in my book.
after recovering from a mild heart-attack regarding the fact Manga actually sent out a newsletter :D this is potentially good news....
a shame there will be no Japanese language track, if only cos I'd love to hear the music they used although I quite enjoy the American dub (with Korn etc in the soundtrack)....
hopefully its better than the dire R1 that is both cut, Non-Anamorphic and just sooooo basic (no menu or anything!)

Good ol' Blockbuster have it in their DVD retail chart next week, I'll be renting that if it is avaliable. I'll let you know how good/bad it is, if you like :)
As for the newsletter it is actucaly the 2nd :eek: posting I have had from MangaUK, the first was for a part time office boy/web site updater. If I had lived near the offices I would have taken the job just to get their act together and kicked a few @$$£$ ;):D
Makes me laugh how the R1 dvd is cut and we get it shown uncut on the scifi channel.
X should be out on R4 soon anyway so that'll be lots cheaper.
SFII has only 2 good bits in it.
The Chun-Li shower scene :D
And the Chun-Li fight in her apartment
apart from that its crap.

Do you genuinly find cartoon characters a turn on? Sorry if I'm being blunt! I always find it a bit of a taboo subject as I think it's just sick. But Aki from Final Fantasy was hot!! I find that genuinly disturbing and sick and am ashamed of myself! Same with Jane from Tarzan...but why??
And as for the ppl who are obsessed with Tomb Raider...don't even get me started on that!

If a hand drawn picture of a women in an art gallery can be considered erotic, then so can an animated charactor.
But I agree that its a bit strange if it goes beyond a 2nd glance or a slight raise of the eyebrow.

I know some people back in school who did get to that point with Lara Croft...I just don't understand it, seriously messed up to say the least!
Anyway back to streetfighter :D I remember buying this blind when it came out on video, purely 'coz it was SF and i loved the games. Not a bad film at all, i think the intro is one of the best. It really sets the tone and mood of the movie, also Bison's dialogue is great.

I must have been 15 or so when it came out and seeing Chun Li nekkid in a CARTOON was seriously strange. Kick ass scene though.
I'm with Innuendo, great to look at but to take it further than that is a little weird. Aparantly that kind of stuff is big in some places though:confused:

Yeah, sorry to stray away from the thread topic, I might follow one in the general...
But cool, I might get this, I saw it ages ago on VHS and was very impressed, but it doesn't have any extra features tho, does it?

It seems you took what i said out of context, or just an excuse to have a go...
you may notice the :D there which is a nice big grin, it doesnt mean i want to have sex with her, or sit there for ages watching it with my trousers round my ankles, it's just an anime, and not a very good one at that.

Sorry if I offended you. I admit I took it a bit too far but it was just something that crept into my mind. If somethings on my mind when I'm replying I write it in. I wasn't having a go at you or making you sound sick, but I apologise if it appeared that way.

Belieeeeeve me, back at a boarding house, I managed to lure 30 people into a tiny TV room and it was a madhouse (this was around when SFII was huge and the video just came out). The build up to the shot in the shower scene was intense. Oh our "HADOOooooo-KEN!" scream at the end was so well timed and synchronised, it was surely heard miles away! And this was the first time we watched it.
Bought the UNRATED R1, and sold it quickly. It cut the entire shower scene, plus the dialogue?? Gulie's confronting words to Bison were
"I'll rip your *********** heart out, you god damn *******"
which was changed to something like
"I'll rip your heart out, you bad person."
And DeeJay said, "They are some badass mothers." for the UNRATED US version and not muthaf*gas like on the UK VHS. What's up with that?
I'll be getting this disc for nostalgic reasons, althogh shame the japanese track won't be included. Maybe for legal reasons, since outside Asia, the names for the bosses were changed, fearing that a certain M.Tyson may complain... or so i recall.

Having the film on VHS. Subtitled in chinese (****!!). The original japanese track has an excellent soundtrack. Reason enough for me not getting the english dubbed VHS on release. Probably pick up the disc though. AS it seems no versions gonna have the OST and english subtitles. :mad:
did anyone pick this up then?
would appreciate some thoughts on it as i'm considering updating my crappy R1 :)

I picked it up today.
Not sure on whether its anamorphic or not (If its aspect ratio is 1.85:1 then it isnt but if its 2.35:1 it is)
The sound levels are set very poorly. the centre channel is muffled and low. I havn't come across a dvd this badly mixed since about 2 years ago when poor mixes were common because it was new and publishers were inexperienced in mixing for home systems!
Other than that the picture is good but the sound quality really lets it down!
Only extra is the trailer and the rom content is worthless :(

sounds like its Non-anamorphic as the OAR is 1:85:1 (very little anime till recently was shot 2:35:1) :(
any idea about the cuts? (info on them further up this thread)
sounds like a typical Manga UK release though :( worse still it sounds like they've recycled the R1 which could result in a cut product!!

Don't forget - Manga UK own the right to lots of Akira stuff that is not available overseas. If they get their act together (UNLIKELY!!) we could have a uniqure R2 release!

I see we're back to Akira :D (threw me for a while, thought this was an SF2 only thread!)....
what extra material do they have then? let us in on the secret ;)
I'd like to see it happen but I somehow doubt it, odds on the disc will be identical to either the already available French R2 (with English subs/menu) or more than likely the R4 which at the moment is completely up in the air with regards to content.
We can only but hope...shame the Jap R2 has no subs for the extra features :(
