This has been bugging me for months but I can't remember the title of a movie that made a big impression on me as a kid.
I think it's a French movie (60's/70's) dealing with a rather ingenious bank robbery. It plays in a city on the south coast of France I think (Marseille?) and the bankrobbers are terrorists who need the money for funding their organization. These are all sketchy memories and I could be all wrong but the heist itself made a lasting impression. To get to the vault, the bankrobbers go through the sewers of the city. They dig and hack their way through some walls which takes weeks (and all at night). When they finally manage to enter the bank they spend a whole weekend emptying the vault. The film ends with short scenes of the robbers getting caught one by one.
