i bought my panny 100 a year ago today from sound and vision when it was posted in the bargain thread on these very forums, i havent used it that much since i got it and it only has 283 hours on the clock.
all had been well with it up until just now when i turned it on the fan didnt seem to spin up as it normally does and it didnt project a very bright picture as it normally does, it was pulsing from a very dull picture to a little bit brighter and you could hear the fan speed pulse with it.

well it couldnt have gone on a worse day exactly a year to when i bought it but sound and vision have logged the job as today for me and said i nees to contact panasonic and tell them that a fault was logged from today.

the guy at sound and vision said it could be a bulb and if it was it wouldnt be covered on warranty is this true? does anyone here know?
neither the lamp light or temp light has come on so does anyone have any idea what could have gone? or anyone else had the same problem?

How many hours have you clocked up on your AE100? Anyway I don't see there being a problem. Get onto panasonic to sort it and if they try to charge for the bulb (if it is the bulb) then protest like mad stating how little use its had and how unfair you think this is and how you'll have to look into a legal remedy, or your going to write to watchdog, trading standards etc.

However theres a strong possibility that its a psu problem as its a common problem on these models. It seems the universal world voltage psu built into them doesn't cope too well with the uk 220/240 voltage and blows capacitors. Hopefully Panasonic will repair your ae100 with uprated capacitors and all will be well.

I have an ae100 myself but it was bought ex-demo from robertsons online (ex-demo meaning gone wrong and repaired) and I'm hopeing mine has already got the uprated capacitors.

well up till today in an exact year i have only clocked up 283 hours so its had hardly any use really and when it isnt being used it is always covered once it has had time to cool, it is pretty much only the weekends or if friends came over that it got any use

Do a search on the avforum, this is a common fault that quite a few people have had problems with.I'm quite sure panasonic repaired the ae100's with out any fuss.
Good luck.
