I really do think The The are one of the most under-rated bands ever!!!!!!!!!
I have just finished listeing to the remastered London Town set and noticed on the packaging that a 45RPM volume 2 was supposed to be released last year. Any ideas what would be on this or if it will ever see the day!
Also will Gun Sluts ever be released!!!!
I also heard that a second boxset was due, but can find no info anywhere (the official site is down)
Hope you can help
There is a 2 CD set called 45 RPM which is basically a singles collection. Don't know if that's what you're referring to, but it's pretty good.

Hi There,
Thanks for the reply, yes I have that collection (which is a best of with bonus cd of 12" mixes/extended versions), but if you look at the notes on the remastered cd's (blue burning soul to dusk) iot states that as well as 45rpm (the disc you mentioned) there will be a 45rpm volume 2.
I cannot think what would be on this, any ideas?
Thanks again
Gavin

I've got This is The Day on the Empire Records OST and it's a great song. Can never find anything else by them though :(

You should be able to get hold of the four 'London' albums fairly easily, they're almost always available in HMV sales for around £8. I would recommend starting with 'Dusk' then get 'Soul Mining', 'Mind Bomb' and 'Infected', in no particular order. They're all superb but I'm tempted to suugest that 'Dusk' is the most easily accessible on first listening.
I have to agree with gjkendall, The The are a superb band and Matt Johnson one of the most unappreciated artists this country has ever produced. I've been listening to them almost constantly for the last couple of months.
The website (http://www.thethe.com/) should be up again very soon.
I recommend downloading the live stuff here (http://www.d4damage.net/thethe/), especially the Roskilde 2000 and New York 1993 concerts.

The soundtrack to Tony by Matt Johnson is being released early April!
His collaboration with Deadly Avenger is pretty special and can be heard in the last stream...never heard of Deadly Avenger (he sounds like he may be another Rob Dougan)

The new album...a soundtrack to the film Tony can be ordered from http://www.thethe.com/
How's the sound of the remastered albums ? 2002, I see.
Infected is one of my fave albums, and I had the VHS version too, which was great - is this available ? The record company obviously invested a lot in these videos, but it really didn't take off. One problem I have with his music is that it's a bit too clinical, although I've not seen/heard any live stuff.
Tony (film) discussion thread here (http://forums.thedigitalfix.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=590639)
Tony on IMDB here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1120945/)
I see the film director is also a Johnson - any relation ?

The remastered 80s albums are colossal improvements over the original CDs.

Also will Gun Sluts ever be released!!!!
Never mind Gun Sluts, what about Pornography of Despair? :suspect:
MJ has something of a track record of abandoned/unreleased albums, though not on the scale of, say Prince.. I reckon it's a scam to set him up for his retirement.. release GS, POD etc. as strictly limited editions and watch all the The* The fanboys wet themselves
