View Full Version : Ken Bates to take over Sheff Wed !!!!!
He has confirmed about making an enquiry but says Wednesday wont declare all the financial information. Owls chairman Dave Allen confirmed the enquiry was made 3- 4 weeks ago !!!
I dont like Ken Bates, but......... If this happened and the £24 million debt was cleared I could get to like him . :norty:
I wouldn't get too excited. Ken Bates isn't as financially astute as many would like us to believe, in fact I'm pretty certain that Chelsea were within weeks of bankruptcy prior to Abromovich agreeing to cover their loans. So, if it were not for a fluke billionairre benefactor Chelsea (one of the biggest clubs in England) would have gone belly up:nono:........I know that if I thought he were coming to my club I would not be a happy man.:|

....well, so did I, but I didn't want to over dramatise and scare the bajeebus out of all the Wednesday fans!
Hope Roman makes a bid for us just to spite Bates :)
I heard him in the news today denying this. He had a meeting with the board but it was only done as a favour to the previous chairman who is a friend of his. I think the meeting was about how to find a rich sugar daddy to solve your clubs money problems  :searchme:  :D
Well this is what ive heard
Ken BAtes and Dave Richards are friends, Dave Richards asked Ken Bates a few weeks ago, to have a look at the club and hand out some advice on where we can go etc, seeing as what Ken Bates did to Chelsea, ever since we beat them in 91 in a League Cup Semi Final, we have gone down hill and they have risen to the top, winning European trophies and such. Now Ken BAtes wanted to have a look at the books, but Dave Allen, the current chairman, wouldn't let him, thinking he maybe a possible buyer for the club or what else i dont know  so seeing as Ken didnt get chance to look at the books he couldnt help, now a few weeks have passed and the current chairman or someone at the club has spoken up to say, that the interest has downed down so Ken should put up the cash or stop asking questions.
I think its the ex chairman asking for advice without the current chairman knowing, just down to cross wires.
On Ken Bates, i dont know if i would want him or not, i know we need investment, the club is a great club, huge fan base (20,000+ every week for lower division 2 footy and believe me we are crap ), a stadium fit for any match, just need the investment to get us out of this sticky patch and then we can kick on
