I'm just about to go off to the Riverside and get my tickets for this, has anybody else got their tickets yet?
Please feel free to post any news, rumours and predictions on the final as well and discuss the result when the game is over.

My prediction is 3-2 to Boro, see you all in Cardiff

Yup, spot on. Stupid thing is I was guaranteed a ticket, but queued overnight to get a decent seat anyway.

Personally, I reckon it might be a Bolton win (sorry!) but looking forward to a decent match hopefully.

And if any Boro season tickets holders don't want a ticket feel free to get one for me. I live in Birmingham so can't justify a season ticket for the few times a year I get to the Riverside. Consequently I have no chance of getting to the final - tv will have to do

Oh, and I predict 2-1 Boro.

It's an absolute balls up of the highest order and the natives are not happy. Despite their charter defining the order of cup ticket sales, they allowed 20,000+ people to get 2 tickets on Saturday with no priorities. Pretty much everyone that queued up got their tickets, leaving a huge deficite in the postal appications.

Basically 20,000+ * 2 = 40,000+ and we only had 29,800 tickets, 26,000 after corporate/player allocations etc. Basically they reckon that 10-15% of their season ticket holders won't get a ticket now.

On the radio tonight the chairman and commercial director just about managed to admit they'd got it wrong, although they blamed the fans, Blackburn Rovers, the media etc. Heads should roll...

Not the ticket office's fault, they objected to the plan but were overruled by the board (if you believe the chairman) or Gareth Moores, the commercial director (if you believe the people who work in the ticket office).

That's awful, I hope you got yours :( The Boro ticket office staff have been working through the night, to make sure all postal applications by season ticket holders were sorted straight away as soon as the tickets started to be sold. I hope that you (and Boro) manage to get an extra few thousand tickets each, rather than leave them to the corporates :oh-hum:

carlmcg

Got mine cheers but plenty of people are still waiting. Plenty rumours going round regarding where the tickets have gone. Basically it's being left to the fans to ensure as fair a distribution as possible with EBay auctions being highjacked etc.

JCL

Season Ticket holders should certainly get first option.

On the Rangers renewal form you tick a box to ensure you automatically get semi-final or final tickets (aswell as home European games).

Bolton and Boro rarely if ever sell out so there's no way those 'supporters' who crawl out of the woodwork for one game should get a ticket above those who go every other Saturday.

Really looking forward to the game, I've seen us at three cup finals only to come away empty handed each time - maybe the one time I CAN'T get there, we'll actually win!

Just to correct you there, The Reebok, well the home end, has been sold out for the last few home league games, but that's only about 25,000 fans.

The club genuinely believed that we couldn't sell 26000 tickets as last time we only took 27,000 to Cardiff for the play-off final :brickwall

That's because it's the first time that the club had taken a cup match seriously since 2000 when we accidently found ourselves in another cup semi final.

It is however, a valid point, I was at the Villa games home and away, Walsall, Gillingham and Southampton at home earlier in the competition and Tranmere home and away in the FA, still had to pull strings to get a ticket for the final :searchme:

As a neutral its the 1st final for a long time where I'm not sure who I want to win. As a Man Utd fan Steve McClaren did a great job for us and it'd be nice to see him bring Boro a trophy, but on the other hand I think Sam Allerdyce is a star! A good manager who's done well on a limited budget and who comes across as a nice bloke with a sense of humour in interviews.

It's down to hundreds rather than thousands anyway. Still not good enough but moving in the right direction.

Got my ticket for a Radio 5 Jonathon Pearce Carling Cup Forum on Monday night, not sure when it's broadcast.

I heard that it ended up at about 140 for each team.

How is everyone getting down there?

We are supposed to be driving down on the day, 8 of us in two cars, but with the snow here I'm wondering what to do.

Best pack a shovel and a couple of flasks before we set off

As a neutral, this one's tough to call. Good to see a cup final with two English managers. Not sure about the result... I've only seen Premiership highlights so it's not exactly an informed opinion, but Bolton do seem to have a bit more enterprise about them whereas on paper Boro seem to have the better team. I reckon it'll be a dead heat after 90 minutes.

I'm sure i'm speaking for fans of both teams here, I I really think my team has a chance of winning this (I'm sure Bolton feel the same way too though! :) )

I'm a nervous wreck already, I don't mind the anticipation, it's the thought of screwing it up somehow that's killing me!)

Hope it's a great game though, obvioulsy for Boro more though ;)

Do you not get the sense though that the last three times were great occasions and days out, but this time Boro mean business the build up has been fairly low key and I thik there is a real determination to do it this time. We'll have the better players, better fans (i.e. less part time fans sold tickets) and I think everyone is nervous, but there is a real feeling that this is our time.

Not sure why but Boro seem convinced that they have better players, yet the league table disagrees, seems slightly arrogant to me. Could go either way for me but losing won't be a disaster.

I thought it was a clear penalty for Bolton - the use of the hand (deliberate or not) clearly gave Boro a massive advantage as it may well have saved a goal in the process!

Brilliant day! What a fantastic stadium the atmosphere was electric!

Was the best 10 minutes at a fooball match followed by the longest 80 minutes ever!

Bolton should have murdered us in the first half, 5-2 but them down to 10 men for the tug on Job. But we outplayed them completely in the second half and just about deserved the win.

I think we played the better football overall. Second half they didn't really have a clear chance whilst we had 4 or 5.
Credit to Bolton they made it tough but a lot of it was humping it forward to Davies, whilst we tried to play the ball on the deck.
Still I reckon they should have had a pen when Ugo handballed.

PRESS RELEASE

*STRICTLY EMBARGOED UNTIL 10am, FRIDAY MARCH 5*

Date: March 5 2004 Release: Immediate

CARLING CUP VICTORY PARADE ON SUNDAY

Up to 150,000 people are expected to turn out for Boro’s Carling Cup Victory Parade this Sunday afternoon.

Steve McClaren and members of the victorious cup-winning squad will parade the glittering trophy through Middlesbrough to the Riverside Stadium on an open-top bus.

Setting off at 2pm, the bus will take a route along Ayresome Street past Boro’s spiritual home of Ayresome Park. Travelling at a walking pace, it will then turn left on to Linthorpe Road, continuing along to Borough Road, where it will take a right turn towards North Ormesby roundabout and the A66.

The route ends at the Riverside Stadium but officials from the club, local authority and the Police stress that only limited numbers of people can be safety accommodated outside the ground.

Access will be strictly controlled and no parking will be allowed anywhere near the stadium or its approaches.

The Boro party travelling on the bus will include manager Steve McClaren, the playing squad and coaching staff.

To further boost what is sure to be a fantastic atmosphere, Riverside PA announcer Mark Page will be on the bus to blast out Boro’s Pigbag theme tune.

Boro manager Steve McClaren said: “Following the euphoria of our victory in Cardiff, Sunday is certain to be a dramatic and emotional day.

“The players are looking forward to the parade as an opportunity to thank the supporters and the Teesside public for their backing. I’m sure the fans will turn out in force to make it another very special day.”

*NOTE TO MEDIA

Media should note that access on to the open-top bus will be strictly limited to official club media only.

However, there are various vantage points along the way. A media viewing point will also be available on the Shepherdson Way bridge, directly opposite the stadium reception and point where the open-top bus will end its journey. However, media wanting access to this viewing point MUST inform the club’s Media & Communications Department in advance by calling Dave Allan on 07711 025 009 by 5pm today (Friday).

For further information please contact the club’s Media & Communications Department on (01325) 729916.

Fantastic atmosphere though, really glad I made the trip down.

ALTHOUGH, having not been back home for a while, I thought some parts of the town had gone down hill a bit :( We parked on Ayresome Street and walked down Linthorpe Road, just looked a bit of a mess with rubbish everywhere and things :(

BUT - still a great occasion, now to buy the DVD of the game when it gets released :)
