View Full Version : Interesting visual cockup in Godfather Part 2?

Got the R1 Godfather box set this weekend, watched Part 2 for the first time, and was interested to see what looks like something large stuck to the camera lens obscuring the lower centre part of the image during the very brief shots of the Cuban rebels throwing the gambling machines out of the doorway of the building during the riots.

Anyone know what it is and why it's there? Is it a genuine mistake made during shooting that wasn't noticed until too late? Coppola doesn't refer to it in his commentary, and there's nothing in the IMDB's trivia or goofs sections about it. It's definitely attached to the camera in some way, because it moves with the pan, and it's also visible in the same shots as used in the original theatrical trailer.

(heresy alert)

Not a bad film, I thought, but IMHO it suffered in that the Michael scenes were far less compelling than those of the young Vito.
