Anyone heard any information on this atall? Several online stores have it listed for a release date in March, but I can't find any specific details about the title, like what does it contain and so forth.
Any special features, like a Carpenter commentary perhaps?
god damn it... another 'collectors edition' of dark star?
hopefully this time it will be worthy of the tag.

Collector's Edition? From this spec (http://www.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=2&articleId=6216) I don't think so.
---
So many films, so little time...
£16 tho RRP, which isn't a bad price. but the packaging is hideous, don't really need any of the blue text, except maybe the John Carpenters bit.
and fullscreen version on the disc? sigh.

I agree. For a start, where's the commentary? John Carpenter is great at doing them so this is a real missed opportunity. And will the print be OK? And...
Oh, never mind.

...but the extras are just a couple of text based pages and a trailer?
Hmmm.. Special...
Those specs are shocking. I got rid of the old version some time ago when the rumours of a new one began. What a disappointment.

Completely feeble. Only a commentary along with a documentary (or something similar) would have even made me think of re-buying it. Pah, is all I can say to this feeblt (so called) "Collecter's Edition" :oh-hum:

Godammit! Now I am really *bleeping* angry!
Hell yeah, this would have been a great opportunity to get Carpenter to do a commentary, and I'm sure he'd love to do one for his first film no doubt.
Oh well, it seems marginally better than the old release. I'll put it on my list to buy, but it definitely seems as a missed opportunity :(

"The seminal sci fi Classic Space Comedy"?
Yeah, that scans well. :oh-hum: Since when does a single disc need a box set?!
Be in the sales in less than 6 months.
Menu shots here. (http://www.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=3&articleId=6307) Does look like the original release version is on there too at least. May end up being the best version so far, A/V wise. John Carpenter still refuses to work with Dan O'Bannon, even on special features. This probably doesnt give anyone much incentive to produce any.

Out of interest do you know why this is the case?

yea, I'd never heard anything about that. Where'd you hear that and why does he refuse to work with him?
As far as i know, theres just been long running bad blood between them. This (http://members.tripod.com/~evilbaby/DarkStar.html) site has some more info, it has been campaigning for a R1 Special Editon, which apparently is comming, and may include features with Dan O'Bannon. If not, i imagine a remastered version on R1 not unlike this R2 editon comming out.
