Hi

Anyone have any idea of when the region 2 DVD may be released. I know it gets a bit of a slating but what the hell, still fancy it anyway. I was considering the region 1 from Amazon or Play247 but think I'll wait to see what the region 2 is like.

Columbia have confirmed it to be the end of January.. no specific date as yet though.

I've gone for the R1, can't think how the R2 could better it, apart from the PAL picture.

If you really want PAL then the Region 4 version is out on Wednesday 21st November. To be honest, the R1 picture is superb! :)

Thanks all - think I'll take the plunge and get the R1 - at least I'll be able to try out the multi region capability

Not sure about any other players (I have a Tosh 2109b), but the RCE can be gotten round by pressing the memory button and entering a title number, but leaving the chapter blank.

Here are a list of the title numbers

Title 1 Chapter -- The Movie, cycle throught the audio
commentaries using the audio button.

T2 C-- Storyboards/playblasts - again cycle
through the audio to get the commentary.

T3 C1 FF movie trailer
T4 C1 FF movie trailer
T5 C1 FF game trailer
T6 C1 Men in Black trailer (?!)
T7 C1 Starship Troopers trailer (?!)
T8 C1 Trailer for an Anime movie/game
called "Metropolis"

I think that is all the extras on the first disc and I have read that the second disc isn't RCE, so have fun!:D

Cheers Guys

I don't think the RCE is a problem - I'm fairly sure that my player can handle it (cheapy, budget Encore 450 - but I've not had any problems except for a slight bit of pixellation on certain scenes in Final Destination and Alien - it doesn't seem to like a certain coloured green as a background, like at the opening of Alien and the Bathroom scene in FD)

Is there much or any difference between R1 and R2 picture quality? I've never really looked into it and have never bought any R1 discs yet although I have been tempted by a couple. Probably just me being lazy asking as I suppose I should search through the forums first but I would be grateful for any advice.:)
