 GREETINGS PROGRAMS!

I was just wondering. What is the Best Promotion campain for a Movie?

I think the best promo campain was that for GHOSTBUSTERS.

It started Months before I had even heard of the film, There was no internet buzz back then. It all started with the logo apearing in my local newspaper. for weeks I looked for more info and when we finally got news about the film it buit into a huge buzz that caused Q's round the cinemas.

I was luckey to know some one who worked in the cinema, he got me tickets that allowed me to bypasss the Q.

And the film was Hexilent! :notworthy

But what do you folks think?

END OF LINE.

The 2 that really spring to mind are the pre-internet campaign for "Twelve Monkeys" - 'Army of the 12 monkeys' symbols spray-painted all over the London Underground for example! genius & quite confusing for many weeks!
The other is the now legendary use of the 'net to spread the word about The Blair Witch Project.

Batman - just the logo on the poster.

I remembered the long hot summer when it opened.

Hey, I was gonna say that!

There were two or three huge posters in Copenhagen that summer. No title, just that logo. Very cool.

I'm also pretty sure that it was the first major marketing campaign for a movie (well, in Denmark anyway). Before that it was just trailers and the odd small poster. Or maybe I just completely missed the earlier ones (like Ghostbusters).

Silence of the Lambs - the Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins posters with the moths on their mouths.

As far as I can remember there was nothing else on the posters.

Really stood out when I travelled by tube at the time.

The best promo i can think of was the Tazos for the Star Wars Special Editions. They were fantastic:)
