Region comparison would be nice too. Don't really want NTSC versions, but I've heard the 3rd film won't be in the R2 set (different distributor?, plus it might still be cut anyway), but what about R4?

R2
Die Hard 1 and 2 owned by Fox
Die Hard 3 owned by Buena Vista (and is cut and because of the BBFC no due rating policy it's not allowed to be released uncut)
(it's been said that Fox UK have been telling people to get the R1 set if you want Die Hard 3 as well)

R4
Die Hard 1 and 2 owned by Fox
Die Hard 3 owned by Village Roadshow

DH3 is cut on the R1 version anyway.....

Will they be releasing the first one on its own as the 5 star collection thingy like they did in the states? If so, which will be better, and when's it released?!! Was gonna get the R1, but might wait a while if the R2 specs are better :)

Fox made precuts to one of the UK die hard films (BBFC no dual rating might prevent uncut release)

Also R1 has DTS. Total Fox UK DTS releases = 0 (they have said it wastes space which could be used for additional languages before)

Think I'll get the R1 then... chances are it'll be cut on R2 and definately won't have a DTS track... oh well :) Thanks for the info...

I think that was Die Hard 2 which was initially a 15. It was resubmitted uncut and released with an 18 cert on VHS. I would hope this would be the version we'd get on any DVD re-issue

The release date for the R2 Die Hard 1 and 2 5star versions was going to be 4th Feb 2002, but the release has now been indefinitely postponed due to the terrorist attacks in the US

I don't think the dts track makes all that much difference. I can't tell the difference bewteen it and dd5.1 on the first two films, there is a noticable difference in the third film between the two tracks however.

It will be in the same case (an Alpha case) as the version in the boxset. Fox US use Alpha cases most of the time.

:(:( Those cases are damn ugly man, and like twice as fat as amarays.... :( We should start a petition against them too, like the snapper one :)

The cases help to make my DVD collection bigger though!
