I am not getting any sound from the menus on this disc. When I rented it I distinctly remember the menus having sound clips from the film.
Can anyone confirm that there is sound on their copy, or am I going mad ?
If there is sound, can anyone suggest what I amd oing wrong ? My player is a Wharfedale DVD-750S. Pressing the 'Audio' button on the menus makes no difference.
On my version (R2 Momentum) music from the film plays on all the menus of the disk.
Whenever you pick a menu option (one of the bottle tops) a sound clip plays from the film ('My Hair!!' :D)
You may just have a dodgy disk cause i havent heard about any problems with this dvd on the Wharfedale player.
Hope this somehow helps

"Dam, were in a tight spot..." :D
This disc has caused the odd problem - it defaults to dolby 2.0 and the audio menu doesn't actually change the sound to 5.1.
Mind you, I'd watch this film over and over regardless - its brilliant :D

Having done some investigation last night, it appears that the audio track used on the menus is recorded as a Digital PCM track. To hear this, I had to set the audio output accordingly in the DVD player's setup menu.
Of course, to hear the 5.1 soundtrack on the actual film, this option must be set to "Bitstream".
Someone cocked up bigtime when they were putting this disc together.

Momentum have serious quality control problems, it seems, whether it's the Angel Heart transfer glitch, the Red Heat subtitle cock-up or the O Brother menu awkwardnesses - which is a great pity, as in most other respects they're streets ahead of many of their UK rivals: O Brother in particular has one of the best transfers I've ever seen of any film!
