Ok, had Sky+ installed this morning, and I went to set it to record two things on Saturday, and both are at the same time, and it claimed that I could only record one at once. It's my understanding that I should be able to record both. The engineer guy said something about leaving it for up to two hours to download the updates, is it that it will just be taking longer??

Recording two things at the same time is new and probably requires the software to be updated. You should let it download what it needs to and that should allow you to do everything

Yea, the guy said to give it a couple of hours and everything should be alright, I'm gonna leave it overnight and check again in the morning. Just wondering on average times it took for other people who recently had it installed??

My engineer did a forced download. Quite easy to do, only took a few minutes.

Is there anyway I can do this?? Might it cause problems??

I've done whats at the bottom of that thread and all the lights flashed but theres no message to tell me its updating. Also, I can't turn it on now. I've left it in case it is getting the update, just wondering if this is normal??

Edit: Right, its downloading now. Best work.

you can record 2 programs, but you have to be viewing 1 of them at the same time.

Not neccessarily. AFAIK you can record two and view a pre-recorded one but if you want to watch something live it can only be one of the two recordings

How could it even physically be possible - 2 tuners can't show you 3 live Sky channels according to my Maths ;)

You're assuming that the simpsons isn't something he recorded earlier though.

If you find away to record EE & CS (they air at different times) you should be burnt at the stake for being a witch. Forget that, if you want to watch both, you should be burned at the stake :gag:

there's 2 receivers - and one decoder...

each receiver can be recording to disc - and the decoder can be decoding either something that's being recorded or something already on the disc

In that situation you would record two programmes from Sky+ and watch another on terrestrial.

Unless you don't even bother with having an Aerial :)

Dual Recording is great anyway, I can't imagine theres ever 3 programs that clash unless you are a couch potato.

I'm sure there is mainly because anything that's good is on between 8pm-10pm so there's a lot of clashes including sport and films

Found a clash next Tuesday Part 2 of Battlestar Galactica / CSI / Angel (luckily Angel will be repeated later in the week)

Any other tips for Sky+ as I should be getting mine installed in a couple of weeks time and all for the pricely some of £99 fitted! :D

Looks like my TIVO will be up for sale.

Any other tips? Hmmm

Use the sky + buffers, I have mine to start 1 min before start time and stop recording 10 mins after, which may sound drastic but handy for BBC1 when they are being crap :|

Don't use instand rewind myself but that's up to you

Set the deletion method to manual or you may find it'll erase a program you have stored if your hard disc runs out of space

Use the keep icon on anything you don't want to lose, rarely, but sometimes I've lost programs without the keep option set but never have I lost one that's 'kept'

Enjoy, great product

The offer has finished now, it was for friends and family of Sky/BT employees. It got leaked on to the internet and so loads of people ordered. As did I :D

Arse I always miss out on stuff like this

Much as I want it, I'm not paying £260 for it!

Did you end up with a re-furbished box or were you lucky enough to get a brand new one?

Sadly, I missed out on that offer but a friend of mine was good enough to let me have his staff offer of a half price box (brand new) and free standard installation. :)

I came out with a refurb, but the remote control is brand new, and after a forced download it has all the functionality of the new boxes.

I'm extremely happy with it.

I was lucky enough to get a new V2 box - best £100 I've ever spent. I wondered if I would use the dual recording function much as I never thought there would be enough I fancied watching - how wrong can you be. Can record stuff for the kids and the odd movie for a Sunday afternoon and watch the golf and footie whilst promising the wife to record all those DIY programmes on Challenge, etc. What a godsend.

I only got the box as this offer came up as my old digibox was due to expire it's insurance and I was in two minds what to do next. Sold the old box for £60 on Ebay so in effect I got myself a lovely new Sky+ V2 box for £40.

Unlike some disconcerting stories over at the digital spy forums I have had the box since just before Christmas and have had no problems at all. Dual record, pause live, everything A1. And the picture quality has improved from my old Pace digibox. The engineer that came round also adjusted the dish whilst fitting the quad thingy and my signal and quality signal is over 90% steady.

Just thought I'd share that:p .

Seriously a major piece of quality kit for the whole family.

I've got a V2 box and everything is fine, picture quality is good etc. The only gripe I have is that it is a little slower than my old Panny box, in that when you press select there is a slight delay before the channel changes. Other than that I'm wholly impressed, and am recording things I would never dream of recording on a VCR. A VCR that will be winging its way to a forum member very soon I may add.....

If you're used to a TiVo you need dual record because Sky's planner is just as crap as it always was so you can't dodge clashes easily.

Great product otherwise.
