It's excellent! - watch it :D
It's a good film, it sticks pretty close to the novel by Elmore Leonard, who also wrote Out Of Sight & Get Shorty.

Oh yeah, it's a great film with a cracking soundtrack. It's not as ambitious and daring as Pulp Fiction, but it's still a solid 4 star film with a great performance from Sam Jackson.
Yup, top film. Well worth a watch.
Pam Grier, Sam Jackson, De Niro are all excellent.
Anyone know when the US special edition of this is due to be released?

Tarantino's best....
Highly recommended. I think it's Tarantino's best work to date and certainly his most mature.
Thanks folk, well the wines be opened ready for the film, a nice fruity red, anyone want a glass????

Tarantino's next film is set to be a blinder with Sonny Chiba and Yuen Woo Ping set to share stunt choreography duties, I can't wait!:D

It's an hour too long and it's Tarantino's worst.

Its a brilliant movie, a strong script and a top notch cast, one of Tarantino's best!

Agreed, but don't forget the wonderful Robert Forster, who, for me, steals the show. One of my favourites too and one of the few times in recent years I've watched a film more than once at the cinema.
Too late for the TV but has anyone else noticed the Fonda in-joke?
I watched it last night and thought it ws great.
Didn't see the Fonda in jopke though (?)
By the way... If anyones got it on DVD can you check this out for me.
When Robert Forster was checking the money Grier had left in the changing room he seemed to leaf through the notes that were marked by the police officer at first I thought this was wrong but then later he gives sam Jackson some money which is marked so i cant work out whether it was wrong or right.
Can anyone clarify fo me??
Cheers

I will lose this thread at some point so:
At one point in the movie Bridget Fonda's character Melanie is watching Dirty Mary Crazy Larry staring Peter Fonda her Father :)

I have to agree you on that, not a very good film. It's a pity because I love Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction!
I hope Kill Bill and Inglorious Youth are going to be good.

Stunt Choreography  - doesn't sound good.
I realise all of Tarantino's movies so far have been "action" films, but his real skill both as a director and writer is dialogue and plot. That's what makes Jackie Brown his best movie - it would work even on radio. When Tarantino makes an all out action movie, for example teaming up with Rodriguez for From Dusk 'Till Dawn his fanboy past tends to emerge a little to much for my liking, resulting in, admittedly fun, self indulgence. Give him a story to tell though, as with JB, and on the evidence of his work so far he'll at thr very least produce something to make the audience think.

From what i've read of Kill Bill it's even more of a fan boy wet dream than True Rommance!
The last rumour i read was that Uma Thurman would be wearing Bruce Lee's yellow jumpsuit from Game of Death in the film.
Everyone knows that jumpsuit got trashed in Shaloin Soccer anyway.
Don't believe the review - the R4 transfer is so so at best - it's pretty processed looking and has some pretty nasty smearing on close ups of faces . I thought I was watching a bad 100Hz tv at times .
Wait for the R1 SE (or the subsequent inevitable R2/R4 reissue).

I completely agree with you, and to that I'll add - has Tarantino ever directed a particularly impressive action scene?
I can't think of one, and I've seen all three of his films more than once. He's great with characters interacting, and not bad (though not exceptional) at slow-paced suspense - the heist in Jackie Brown being a particularly good example - but I find it hilarious that people mention him in the same breath as John Woo and even Robert Rodriguez, two very different types of director.
Incidentally, Jackie Brown is my favourite Tarantino film by some distance - it showed clear signs that he was growing and maturing as a film-maker, and had some lovely touches, most notably Forster's conversation with Grier's answering machine, one of the most touching and imaginatively-staged declarations of love I've seen in recent years.
For some bizarre reason I'd never seen Jackie Brown before Sunday night and I was mightily impressed.
I didn't quite know what I was expecting but, long though it was, it gripped me the whole way through and I was never certain how it was going to finish.
The R4 DVD is another one added to my long list of discs to buy.
