View Full Version : Ginger Snaps.. info ??
Anyone know if the info from Play is correct ?
for the R1 release ;
http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R1&title=96669
American sites, Amazon, DVD Empire, don't list any of the features, such as commentaries.. & Empire claim it is full frame !
I was going to get the R4 version, as its under £9, until I saw the special ed. R1 at Play, (although I wont be paying their asking price
:D )

Yup that's correct, as Play use a Canadian supplier for their R1 DVDs, so that's the R1 Canadian version of Ginger Snaps that they sell, that's why it's listed differently at US e-tailers.
GS is a Canadian film, so CAN get the best version!
I think AB Sound (http://www.absound.ca) sell it cheapest, they have it for about £13 delivered.
great thanks.......
I usually use Thunder for Canadian orders, slightly more expensive, but they always arrive no later than 6 days after shipping.
Are ABS as quick ?

Save your money, the film is complete and utter overrated lint.
...ahh... certainly this Canadian review of the Canadian DVD of this Canadian movie seems to agree with you!...

I loved it too, though I haven't had a chance to unwrap the Canadian DVD, which only arrived this morning.
But I think it's comfortably one of the better horror films I've seen in the last few years - I went to see it in the first place because of good reviews from the likes of <A HREF="http://www.guardian.co.uk/Archive/Article/0,4273,4212585,00.html">Peter Bradshaw</A> (<I>The Guardian</I>), <A HREF="http://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/0,,142-2001221357,00.html">James Christopher</A> (<I>The Times</I>), <A HREF="http://www.guardian.co.uk/Archive/Article/0,4273,4213812,00.html">Philip French</A> (<I>The Observer</I>), <A HREF="http://www.independent.co.uk/story.jsp?story=79417">Charlotte O'Sullivan</A> (<I>The Independent</I>), which I commend to anyone who's interested in seeing it.
In the interests of balance, I should point out that <A HREF="http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/dynamic/hottx/film/top_film.html?in_review_id=403941&in_review_text_id=353606">Alexander Walker</A> (<I>Evening Standard</I>) loathed it, but he's an old curmudgeon who hates horror films generally, so I wouldn't read too much into that!

Rather enjoyed it myself.
Much better than all these rubbish post modern slasher films we've had to endure over the last few years.
