i have a LG 39" rear projection tv and for a short while i am using and RF aerial to watch it as i am waiting to get my digital moved from my old house (my mom's still using it :o ) but the signal for rf round my new area is poor and i was wondering how good these signal boosters were and wether it would be worth getting one?

I'm sure they fulfil a role. However, in my view there is no substitute for a properly installed aerial of the right type and size for your location. And....if the 'digital' to which you refer is Freeview, you may well need a good wideband aerial.

I'd spend my money on a good, registered, aerial contractor to visit and set you up. If he (she) considers it necessary, he may recommend a masthead amplifier as well (or instead of) a new aerial. A masthead amp will always give better results than an in-room booster.

thanks but as i said it is only going to be for a short while as my sky digital will be installed in about 4 or 5 weeks i was just enquiring to see if anyone knows how good these signal boosters are

Well, the one word missing from your original question was 'Sky'.

In-room boosters do work. However, if the poor signal you have is being corrupted by interference from the cable and/or is poor because of multipath problems (ghosting) etc.... (in other words - is 'dirty') a signal booster will only amplify the dirt along with the signal, and won't therefore improve matters.

I guess all you can do is try it. Or live with it until you get your dish up and running.
